Peugeot reveals its most powerful road car ever
Peugeot has lifted the curtains for its most powerful moniker, the PSE or Peugeot Sport Engineered version of the 508 and 508 SW. The performance plug-in hybrid duo is equally sporty as it is powerful.
Previously, the Concept 508 Peugeot Sport Engineered was seen back in February of 2019. The current offering is a “technological showcase” that would accelerate Peugeot’s gears while it plans to make its return to top-flight motorsport with its Le Mans hypercar entry in 2022.
Talking about the exterior of the car, the PSE 508 duo receives a bright green exterior treatment that can also be seen on its brake callipers. The green colour used for the extensive styling of the car is a nod to its electrified underpinnings. The vehicle also sports a slightly lowered height.
The car rides on a 20-inch performance alloy wheel that blends perfectly with the re-designed front winglets. Additionally, its gloss black diffuser and contrasting hues of black details set it apart from the standard 508. The PSE will be offering Pearl White, Perla Nera Black, and Selenium Grey colour options.
Unlocking speed inside the powertrain of the 508 dou is its PHEV setup that comes mated to an extremely powerful battery. The Li-ion battery is said to be the most powerful production by the automaker in a span of 210 years.
As the powertrain is concerned, the PSE runs on a turbocharged 1.6 PureTech petrol engine that is backed by two electric motors, mounted on the front and rear axles. The combination adds to the FWD configuration and produces a combined power output of 355hp besides generating a peak torque of 520Nm.
The green treatment follows the interiors of the car as well. Moreover, the insides of the PSE can also be seen with Mistral Nappa leather and double Tramontane Grey that is carried over the upholstery with Kryptonite stitching.
Lastly, the Peugeot 508 PSE will make its arrival in the latter half of next year.
