Peugeot 3008

Like the exterior, the interior cabin of the Peugeot 3008 too has an air of sophistication backed with a hefty hint of futuristic appeal in its overall layout. The dashboard looks very unique for a car of this class, making the Peugeot 3008 a very interesting place to be in.

The rather low positioned multi-functional steering wheel has flat upper and lower edges, while the theatrical-styled full TFT instrument console placed quite higher further enhances the overall appeal of the driver’s view of the field. The center console too looks very modern with a free-standing trapezoidal touchscreen infotainment system, with sleeker-looking AC vents below it and toggle like switches for the panel of automatic climate control below them. The kinds of flowing patterns carried out for passenger-side dashboard and transmission tunnel look very inviting as well.

When it comes to styling, there is hardly any other SUV in the segment of Peugeot 3008 (even one segment above), which looks as dramatic and futuristic as it is. The SUV is kind of love at first sight, thanks to its extrovert design language, which is truly one of its kind.

At the front, the Peugeot 3008 gets a very unique fascia, which comprises of comma-shaped full LED headlamps, with them being integrated with sleek daytime running LEDs on their upper edges. The trapezoidal grille in the middle has chrome outer boundaries and curved side edges, which tries to make the SUV look wider than what it actually is. The triangular fog lamp housings with chrome accents and black cladding below them look distinctive as well, and so does the tough-looking trapezoidal silver skid plate in the center of the front bumper.

The side profile of the Peugeot 3008 has a smart appeal to it, with humped rear wheel arch and floating roof effect. While there are no major dramatic character lines on the sideways, the sharp crease on the front fender, along with thick side moulding at the bottom of the doors with chrome accents, indeed make the Peugeot 3008 look muscular.

From the rear, the Peugeot 3008 manages to look very futuristic, with a thick piano black boot garnish spread across the width of the boot lid, while integrating triple LED slats for the tail lamps on either side. The wide skid plate and thick moulding on the rear bumper further try to make the Peugeot 3008 look bulky when viewed from the rear.

The Peugeot 3008 is backed with a very supple suspension setup, which is a combination of Macpherson independent, coil spring and anti-roll bar at the front and deformable cross-member, coil springs and integrated anti-roll bar at the rear. The overall ride quality has a softer edge to it, thus making the overall experience quite a comfortable one.

There are two powertrain options being offered in the Peugeot 3008. First is the smaller 1.2-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which makes 130 PS of power and 230 Nm of torque. There is also a bigger 1.6-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which produces 164 PS of power and 240 Nm of torque. Both these engine options are available with two transmission options – a 6-speed automatic and an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

Equipped with all the modern safety amenities like the front, side and curtain airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, Speed Limit Information, Intelligent Speed Adaptation and Driver’s Attention Warning System, Lane Departure Warning System, Blind Spot Monitoring System, Lane Keeping Assist, High Beam Assist, Electronic Stability Programme (ESP), Cruise Control with speed limiter, automatic rain and light sensors, tyre pressure monitoring system and front and rear parking sensors, the Peugeot 3008 makes a mark here as well.

The Peugeot 3008 has a tremendously beautiful design in and out as its major highlight, but apart from that, it is a well-sorted SUV when it comes to mechanicals as well, with refined and powerful petrol engines and very smooth ride quality on offer.
