Toyota launched its compact Corolla Cross SUV in Indonesia

Toyota has introduced the most recent addition of its Corolla series last month when it revealed the new Corolla Cross compact SUV in Thailand. And now, the automaker launched the Corolla-badged crossover in Indonesia in two variants; one petrol and one hybrid. The SUV looks bold yet clean and may cater to the varied tastes of buyers.

Toyota Corolla has marked its presence on the global stage for over 50 years now. The vehicle has been a part of necessary upgrades over periodic intervals, making it a total of 48 million units or more. The car has its base of sales in 150 countries and regions or more around the world, making it Toyota's best-selling car.

The key code of development of the all-new Corolla Cross is 'Corolla Meets SUV'. The automaker has put forward a fresh approach to its design and made it a unique looking SUV. The base elements of design on the Cross resemble sturdiness in the exterior. Moreover, The TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) platform has enabled the new compact SUV to achieve high-quality performance and also to promote a peaceful ride.

Coming over to the suggested upgrades in the car, it gets new torsion-beam suspension for improved ride quality and handling. The vehicle also makes use of an elevated driving position to provide a wide-angle view and reduce blind spots for the driver. Interestingly, the vehicle also gets a minimum turning radius of 5.2 m, providing effective handling.

On the mechanical front, it comes with two engine options. The vehicle can be selected with a 1.8L petrol 2ZR-FE Dual VVT-i four-pot naturally-aspirated engine, producing 138 hp of power besides 172 Nm of peak torque.

The other engine offering is a hybrid powertrain, fixed with a 2ZR-FXE engine that produces 96 hp of power and 142 Nm of torque that is paired to electric motors, delivering 71 hp of power.

Lastly, coming to its pricing point, Corolla Cross is priced at 457.8 million rupiah (SGD 42,914)for petrol and 497.8 million rupiah (SGD 46,663) for the hybrid.
