Volvo Concept Recharge reveals design and tech of next-gen Volvo EVs

The world’s safest automaker Volvo has just announced big changes to its offerings. The automaker has unveiled the new corporate face of Volvo’s upcoming electric car range, the Concept Recharge. The new electric car range will be highlighting the automakers revised design language for its EVs.

Change is the only constant! We’ve all been familiar with Volvo’s offerings, making them one of the safest cars across the globe. However, what most of us didn't know was the fact that the Swedish automaker continued to base its existing EVs on the previous architecture.

The design feature of the previous generation of the car was carried over to the EV, meaning that the current generation EV offerings by the automaker are largely beholden to fit in with the requirements of gas cars.

However, the new design element of the next generation of Volvo EVs highlights the automaker's plan for the future. From what’s visible, the new Concept Recharge will give place to integrate all the advanced technology into its upcoming cars.

The revealed concept provides us with the view of a two-row SUV that is powered by an electric propulsion, demonstrating Volvo’s view of the electric-vehicle and how this upcoming platform will revolutionize transportation design.

Talking about the most immediate changes that can be noticed in the car is its stretched wheelbase. The automaker seems to have achieved this feat by swapping the engine with a complete battery pack that is placed on the flat floor of the car.

The other features evident from the re-designed language present lower roofline and reduce the effective height of the bonnet of the car. Other compelling design traits of the upcoming Recharge lineup include rear overhangs, shorter front placed near vertical rump, and massive wheels that showcase aero covers.

Lastly, to steal the show, the automaker continues to place its hallmark “Thor’s Hammer” full LED headlights. The USP of the upcoming range revolves around its LiDAR sensor that will be standard throughout the range.
