BYD T3 Electric

The T3 Electric is claimed to be futuristic; however, there's nothing futuristic inside the cabin of the T3. It's all a typical van inside; leather finishes, dual-toned seats, high-quality carbon fiber material are all to be missed. A 4.3-inches TFT instrument cluster is mounted at the dash's centre, which displays all vital information. The front independent adjustable seats are comfortable and there's enough headroom and legroom for the occupants. For entertainment, you get a radio with Aux and USB port, and two speakers. The T3 boasts a vast cargo space of 3.8 cubic metres. It can also sustain a payload of approximately 720 kg, which should meet most urban logistics systems' transportation demands. The wide cargo is equipped with an anti-skid and wear-resistant aluminum alloy floor. The floor and side enclosures are designed with draw buckles for cargo fixation, to better guarantee its integrity during transportation. Also, the GFRP doors on both sides facilitate multi-angle loading and unloading, which is also more convenient for refrigerated transport retrofitting.

The T3 looks like any other commercial van, and there are no fancy touches to its exterior styling. The design language is minimal and practicality is stressed rather than aesthetics. The front fascia holds halogen headlights, indicators and the chrome-plated front grille that houses the charging socket. One can enter into the cabin through the regular doors, while entry to the loading compartment is possible through single, large, sliding doors with body-coloured handles. Other key exterior features include the chrome-plated tail, roof decorations, 16-inches steel alloy wheels, four-wheel fender, and rear luminous logo. The T3 is offered in four paint schemes - Swiss Silver, Doctor Black, Crystal White, and Jade Green. 

The T3 is provided with a rack and pinion, electric power steering (EPS) that allows confident handling through city roads and heavy traffic streets. The minimum turning radius is 5.75m. Mitigating the city bumps are MacPherson Strut at the front and Leaf Spring at the rear.

Hauling the T3 Electric is an AC Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor that churns out 70 kW of max power and 180 Nm of peak torque, mated to an automatic transmission system. This motor is coupled with a 50.3 kWh BYD NCM battery that is charged from zero to full in 1.3 hours on DC and in 7.6 hours on AC power supply. The motor provides a zero-emission drive and generates minimal noise. The T3 Electric van can reach a top speed of 100 kmph and can cover 300 kms in a single run (full charge).

Hydraulic disc brakes, powered by ABS, are fitted at both ends to perform braking duties. BYD has also equipped the van with a Regenerative brake system under which, when the brake is applied or the accelerator is released, the kinetic energy is converted into electricity to recharge the battery. It can effectively reduce the abrasion of the brake pad, improve driving range and save energy. Other safety features include Electronic Parking Brake (EPB), Brake Override System (BOS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), driver and passenger airbags, driver and passenger seat belt reminder, speed-sensing automatic latch, anti-theft alarm and smart key system.
