Abhishek Katariya says
The Hyundai Venue is the smallest SUV from the Korean carmaker across the world and has won many accolades for its contemporary appeal in and out, redefining the benchmarks in its segment. The Hyundai Venue is available with different specifications in different markets, and in Singapore, the sub-compact SUV is available in one standard petrol automatic variant and eight colour options – Polar White, Fiery Red, Typhoon Silver, Phantom Black, Intense Blue, The Denim, Exotic Green and Lava Orange.
Hyundai Venue Interior & Features
On the inside too, Hyundai has managed to make the cabin of the Venue look distinctive and modern without going overboard, just like how it did on the exterior design of the SUV. The cabin of the Hyundai Venue is finished in dual-tone black and beige upholstery, with the theme of the minimalism well executed in the cabin.
The driver’s cockpit looks youthful, thanks to a multi-functional steering wheel shared with more premium models like Avante and a sober-looking instrument console with blue backlit. At the centre of the dashboard, the large 8-inch rectangular free-standing touchscreen infotainment system takes the centre stage, which gets rounded rectangular AC vents with silver bordering on both of its sides. There are three round dials for the automatic climate control just below the infotainment system, below from which flows the transmission tunnel.
Where the Hyundai Venue doesn’t manage to impress much is the space at the rear. The compact size of the Venue takes a toll on its legroom and knee room, and seating three people abreast the rear is a bit of squeeze.
Venue Exterior
The Hyundai Venue features a radical new design, which is a huge departure from the design language of the yesteryear models of Hyundai and gets a number of design cues that create new benchmarks.
At the front, the Hyundai Venue gets a cascading type front grille, which comes with chequered chrome inserts within it, which makes the front fascia of the Venue look larger than what it actually is. The Venue gets a split headlamp setup, with turn indicators positioned up and rounded rectangular headlamps with projectors inside them and daytime running LEDs on its circumference. To add some macho appeal to the design, Hyundai has finished the lower part of the bumper in heavy silver cladding, with a skid plate at the centre.
From the sides, the Hyundai Venue tries to make the compact look a bit busier, thanks to crisp shoulder line flowing across the length, and bulging wheel arches, with machined alloy wheels, side body cladding and roof rails adding to the glamour. The rear profile of the Hyundai Venue looks rather subtle, with rounded rectangular LED tail lamps positioned on farther ends of the boot, and a crisp line across the width of the boot. Like at the front, the rear bumper too comes with heavy cladding and silver skid plate at the bottom.
Hyundai Venue Ride & Handling
The Hyundai Venue gets Macpherson struts at the front and coupled torsion beam axle at the rear, which given its urban image, has been tuned on a softer side. To make the driving experience more interesting, the Hyundai Venue comes with three drive modes – Sport, Eco, Normal – and 2WD multi traction control modes – Snow, Mud, and Sand.
Venue Engine & Fuel Consumption
The sole powertrain option for the Singapore-spec Hyundai Venue happens to be a 1.6-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, which is coupled to a CVT gearbox as standard. The engine produces some healthy output numbers for a car as compact as Hyundai Venue – 123 PS of maximum power output and 154 Nm of peak torque output.
Hyundai Venue Braking & Safety
The Hyundai Venue comes with a sufficient safety equipment list on board, like the front, side and curtain airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors with camera, static bending lights, auto cruise control, hill start assist and traction control.
Venue Verdict
The Hyundai Venue, with its new-age appeal in and out, feels very much youthful, and with all the modern creature comforts it provides, promises to be a great urban runabout for the young generation buyers, who want a compact but premium set of wheels.
