Mazda 2 Sedan

Having a great level of plush and premium cabin, the overall interior layout of the Mazda 2 Sedan has been completely shared with the Mazda 2 Hatch, which is pretty obvious. Even the dual-tone black and brown leather upholstery is the same here on the sedan, which is not a bad thing at all, considering how good and rich it feels.

The three-spoke multifunctional leather-wrapped steering wheel as well as the three-part instrument console with a round speedometer in the middle and two digital screens flanking it makes the driver’s vision ahead of him very youthful.

The rest of the dashboard looks quite elegant, the centre of attraction of which is the pop-up style rectangular touchscreen infotainment system. The other parts of the dashboard design look simple with circular AC vents. The lower part of the dashboard is finished in brown leather, with minimalist looking centre console housing buttons for climate control and transmission tunnel below.

The setlist of features in the Mazda 2 Sedan sees no additional equipment over its hatchback counterpart, with a noteworthy kit like leather upholstery, auto cruise control, push-button start with keyless entry and height adjustment for driver’s seat.

For an entry-level sedan category, the Mazda 2 Sedan looks smooth and remarkable. The overall design with its curvaceous and timeless appeal attracts the masses in a good way.

Shared with the Mazda 2 Hatch, the front look of the Mazda 2 Sedan gets a curved front grille that has been given slightly tapered edges. The grille is flanked with sweptback curved headlamps which are joined to the former with a sleek chrome element, making the front fascia look wide. At the bottom on the front bumper, the fog lamps too get a nice curved chrome garnish. 

Bearing a resemblance to the Mazda 2 Hatch till the C-pillar, the Mazda 2 Sedan has an extremely curvaceous profile and gets prominent curved bulges above the round-shaped front as well as rear fenders. Despite having a design based on the hatchback, the sedan never looks disproportionate from any angle you look at it, which is a testimony to its smooth design. Even the sporty alloy wheels and the door-mounted rearview mirrors have been shared with its hatchback counterpart.

The rear profile of the Mazda 2 Sedan looks completely different from its hatchback sibling, with the rounded roofline merging well with the stubby boot lid design. While the triangular tail lamps with rounded edges have been lifted from the Mazda 2 Hatch, the boot lid looks different from the trapezoidal housing for license plate moved upwards in the middle of the boot lid.

The Mazda 2 Sedan carries its impression of being smooth and aerodynamic in its design for the driving dynamics as well. The sedan gets Macpherson struts at the front and torsion beam axle at the rear, which are tuned for optimum and comfortable ride quality.

The Mazda 2 Sedan is available with a 1.5-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox as standard. This engine pumps out a maximum power output of 115 PS, while the peak torque output is rated at 148 Nm.

The Mazda 2 Sedan gets a decent amount of safety equipment like the front, side, and curtain airbags, ABS with EBD, dynamic stability control, traction control, reverse parking sensors with camera and engine immobilizer.

The Mazda 2 Sedan not only looks stunning with its curvy and aerodynamic design but also feels like a big car in every other aspect – be it the premium fit and finish, the equipment list on board, and the way it performs and handles.
