Mazda 6 Sedan

The Mazda 6 Sedan isn’t too loud and garish on the inside and has a very fine sense of sophistication in the way it has been laid out. The overall interior with minimalism in its panels makes it look extremely classy.

The three-spoke simple-looking multifunctional steering wheel as well as the sober-looking analog dials for the instrument console have been shared with a couple of other Mazda models, and together form a sober-looking driver’s cockpit. However, the real sense of style can be seen in the rest of the dashboard design.

The dashboard has a two-layered horizontally partitioned design, with the upper one having a free mounted touchscreen infotainment system and sleek rectangular AC vents and the lower one getting minimalist looking buttons for the automatic climate control. Bearing a strong family lineage of front end designing, the Mazda 6 Sedan gets the same familiar wide open front grille which has a rounded appeal with tapered edges. It has a strong chrome garnish which covers the lower portions of the grille and extends below the headlamps on the sides, making the front fascia look wider. The headlamps, like in all Mazdas, are sleek and full LED units, and here in the Mazda 6 Sedan are slightly more rounded in appeal.

Mazda has played finely with curves while designing the side profile of the Mazda 6 Sedan. The sedan gets prominent and large bulges over both the rounded wheel arches in a curvy manner, which along with the door-mounted rearview mirrors and machined alloy wheels looks very stylish. The entire side window boundaries get chrome garnish, making it look very premium.

The Mazda 6 Sedan continues its fine design at the back also, with the sedan getting a pair of curved and wing-like full LED tail lamps with a sleek chrome line joining them across the boot lid’s width. The dual exhaust ports down on the rear bumper only add to the sportiness of the sedan.

The Mazda 6 Sedan, despite being large and having a good body weight, is one fine handling machine, with the subtle tuning for the Macpherson struts at the front and multi-link setup at the rear. While the curved roofline eats up a slight amount of headroom, it isn’t too bothering.

One can choose the Mazda 6 Sedan from the two powertrain options it has on offer. The smaller 2.0-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol motor makes 165 PS of power and 213 Nm of torque, whereas the larger 2.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine produces 194 PS of power and 258 Nm of torque. A 6-speed automatic gearbox is common to both the engines.

The Mazda 6 Sedan, being the flagship sedan from Mazda, gets a plethora of safety kit, which includes front, side, and curtain airbags, ABS with EBD, dynamic stability control, high beam control, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, blind-spot monitoring system, rear cross-traffic alert, driver attention alert, pedestrian braking, smart city brake support, front and rear parking sensors, and a 360-degree camera.

The Mazda 6 Sedan is a fine example of beauty with capabilities. It is not an all show and no go thing, for the beautiful styling is well complemented by the mechanical prowess as well as features it has on offer.
