Abhishek Katariya says
The Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet is the open-top convertible version of the mighty S-Class sedan, regarded highly as one of the best cars to have ever made its appearance on the planet Earth. The Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet has been made available in the Singapore market in the single fully loaded S500 variant.
Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet Interior & Features
The overall cabin of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet resembles much to that of the S-Class sedan, which is already known for its sheer standards of opulence in the world of motoring. Add in the customization options of upholsteries and trim levels, and its exclusivity reaches even newer heights.
The V-shaped silver-finished housing of the steering wheel goes well with the overall theme, and so does the wraparound theme for the dashboard, which accentuates the width of the cabin very well. The large rectangular display screen behind the steering wheel extends towards the middle of the dashboard and gets two full TFT screens placed adjacent to each other, one for the instrument console and the other for the infotainment system.
The four rounded AC vents in the middle and one each on the corner, minimalist buttons for the climate control and wide and long center transmission tunnel are the other prominent details of the cabin of the Mercedes Benz S-Class Cabriolet.
S-Class Cabriolet Exterior
The Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet has a stunning and smooth design which has been derived from that of the S-Class sedan, which already is highly respected for its poise and authoritative stance. Add in the two-door look and a heavily revised rear styling, and the Mercedes Benz S-Class Cabriolet tries to position itself different from its sedan counterpart.
The front profile of the Mercedes Benz S-Class Cabriolet gets the same front fascia as that of the S-Class sedan, with the front grille welcoming you with its star-studded layout for the mesh pattern on its inside. The headlamps, which are pushed slightly backward than the front grille, too are direct lift-offs from the S-Class sedan and look quite exuberant with their full LED lighting pattern and eye-catching daytime running LEDs.
The Mercedes Benz S-Class Cabriolet starts to differentiate itself from the S-Class sedan, with its revised and smoother looking two door look, characterized well by a smooth and prominent curve flowing from the edge of the headlamp and vanishing at the rear fender. The large alloy wheels within the rounded wheel arches give it a poised look.
At the back, just like the other sedan based cabriolets of Mercedes Benz, the S-Class Cabriolet also get a cleaner design for the boot lid and horizontal pair of LED tail lamps, which have tapered corners on the inner edges. The quad exhaust port arrangement with full chrome garnish on the rear bumper adds to the elegant look of the car.
Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet Ride & Handling
The magic carpet ride quality of the S-Class sedan is well retained in the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet as well, for the overall chassis under the skin as well as suspension combination and features have been shared in between both the cars. However, thanks to that added stiffness in the suspension setting, the S-Class Cabriolet feels a slightly more involving car to drive.
S-Class Cabriolet Engine & Fuel Consumption
The Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet gets a mammoth of an engine under its swooping bonnet – a 4.7-litre turbocharged petrol engine coupled to a 9-speed automatic gearbox. This powertrain has the capacity to produce a maximum power output of 453 PS and a peak torque output of 700 Nm, which makes it one of the most powerful cabriolets around the world.
Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet Braking & Safety
With a long list of safety features, the most important ones of which include a front, side, curtain and knee airbags, hill descent control, ABS with EBD and brake assist, emergency brake assist, pedestrian detection system, electronic stability control (ESC), traction control, rollover stability control, lane keep assist, auto park brake hold, electric parking brake and hill start assist, the Mercedes Benz S-Class Cabriolet feels a safe place to be in, apart from being a luxurious one.
S-Class Cabriolet Verdict
The long list of features and an immense amount of opulence in and out makes the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet a truly exclusive car. The car is a sheer style statement and has a timeless appeal to it, which sets it apart from the breed of other aggressive-looking roadsters in the same price range.
