MG HS

From the inside, the MG HS is designed to make you go wow over it even more. The cabin comes with a couple of uber-cool modern touches and an elegant layout for the cabin, which is draped in a super sporty dual-tone red and black color scheme for the upholstery. 

The three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel has been shared with the MG ZS EV, however, the full TFT instrument console with funky looking dials truly liven up the cabin. The rest of the dashboard has got a good flair to it with its flowing theme towards the center console, which has a sleek hexagonal panel for the AC vents and a pop-up style touchscreen infotainment system above it. The brushed aluminum finish for the central transmission tunnel is another thing that makes the cabin feel very premium. 

For five passengers, the MG HS packs in enough amount of space, and the features galore with noteworthy additions like a panoramic sunroof, full leather upholstery, push-button start with keyless entry, dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, rear AC vents, and an electric tailgate.

The MG HS has the ability to impress everyone with its premium design, which is not too loud in terms of appearance but looks classy and modern for its size. The curvy looking design elements and heightened stance make up for a very balanced stance and proportionate design, which is very easy on the eyes.

The front profile of the MG HS sources a lot of inspiration from the smaller MG ZS, which can be seen in the way its wide grille with rounded edges and jewel-studded theme and bird’s eye like headlamps with all LED illumination look like. However, there are some subtle tweaks and differences here, with a sportier-looking front bumper with large fog lamp inserts, a different design for the fog lamps, and skid plate in the center.

The side profile of the MG HS looks simple and elegant, with the body panels not getting any significant character creases, but nice looking chrome surrounds for the window panels, slim body cladding, and thin roof rails. The red-colored brake calipers behind the alloy wheels are very nice and sporty touch to the side design of the MG HS.

At the back, the MG HS gets wide and curvy looking long tail lamps which look cool with their very modern-looking LED inserts. Apart from that, the rear profile of the MG HS looks quite simple, with heavy-looking cladding and skid plate on the rear bumper adding some muscle to the rear profile as well as SUV as a whole.

The overall suspension setup of the MG HS, comprising of Macpherson struts at the front and a torsion beam with an anti-roll bar at the rear, compose up a very comfortable ride quality setup, which is impressive across all the speeds. The body roll is well under control, however, the too urban-oriented light steering setup might not inspire top-spec confidence at higher speeds.

Under the hood of the MG HS, there is an impressive and extremely refined 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine which globally powers a range of other MG models. Coupled to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission as standard, the MG HS has its maximum power and torque outputs rated at 162 PS and 250 Nm respectively.

The MG HS is brimmed with all the essential safety features as standard, comprising of the front, side, and curtain airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, cornering brake control, traction control, electronic stability program, hill start assist, hill descent control, tire pressure monitoring system, electric parking brake, blind-spot monitoring system, rear cross-traffic alert, reverse parking sensors, and rear camera.

The MG HS, with its modern and youthful visual appeal in and out, impresses to a large extent, as it looks contemporary without going overboard, thus maintaining a subtle elegance. With a long list of features and a spacious cabin, the MG HS is one great value for money premium midsize SUV to go for.
