Perodua Bezza

The interior of Bezza gets decked up with a dashboard chrome architecture with a trim design to render a class feeling. The new meter combination displays the intriguing illumination in the white taking it to another level. The interior carves out space for sporting the under the luggage compartment, luggage space, and luggage net for storing purposes.

On the seating front, the aesthetics look appealing with the semi-bucket fabric upholstery. Though, it could have feathered the leather one to make it more exclusive. The rear console also has slots for facilitating the smartphone and USB port. The button of a push start or stop engine without using a key is something worth appreciating in this car model. Though, there are major missing in terms of entertainment in the car. It only gets you the basics with FM/AM radio stations, BlueTooth connectivity, USB & auxiliary inputs, and front and rear speakers.

On the exterior aesthetics, Perodua Bezza gets a remarkable bold and aggressive appeal. The combination works best because of the edgy rear bumpers with the sharp faux vents cutouts embracing the fog lamps, slimmer headlights, and a grille that is almost horizontal. 

At the posterior, there are similarly edged cutouts on the bumpers that are featured in the front fascia. The rear bumpers are redesigned just like the Malaysian one, and also address the issues of the exposed rear underside. A slight extension in the rear bumper is for the enhanced aerodynamics of the car.

The car model includes a new two-tone side skirting in shades of black and body colour remains standard across the boards. The chrome strip featuring in between the tail lamps is done in a dual-tone- chrome over black gloss. The AV exhibits electric retractable side mirrors and the remaining parts have power-adjustable mirrors with turn signals. For wheels, it’s 15-inch alloy rims available in two tones.

The ride quality of Bezza is close enough to its competitor the Proton Saga. The steering is practically on the lighter making it possible to drive through the roads. The ride quality is pretty satisfactory but there is nothing much to elaborate on.

However, the throttle response could have been a little bit better. The places where it lags behind is the overall pickup especially in driving uphill conditions.

The Singapore variant of Perodua Bezza only features the 1.3-litre 4-cylinder engine. Though, it also comes with a 1.0-litre engine for the Malaysian variant. The 1.3-litre VVTi engine is from Japanese automaker Toyota that delivers a performance of 94 hp and 121 Nm of torque. The car owners get an option to select from the five-speed manual or four-speed automatic gearbox.

For getting the maximum performance, the engine needs to operate on high revs that will otherwise have high fuel consumption. So, you are required to adjust the driving speed to only 5l/100 km for low consumption.

The Perodua Bezza is operated by the MacPherson strut in the front suspension and the torsion beam in the rear suspension. The shock-absorbers type in the car features the coil spring.

There’s a clear lack of safety features beyond the two standard airbags, ABS, and Isofix child seat mounts. The stability control feature offered in the advanced Malaysian package is somewhere missing in the Singapore variant. Some other safety parameters in the car include the anti-theft device, engine immobilizer, and central locking. It’s better not to engage in a high-speed drive using this car. While not to forget its front and rear sensors that work exceptionally well in the congested streets of Singapore.

Looking for a first-time driving experience, then Bezza can make a reliable choice. This car is ideal, especially catering to the needs of small and nuclear families. The boot volume of 508-litre is good enough for average families having four members.

It’s far from being a perfect car but getting a combination of sporty appeal, practical interior, and fuel economy work in its favour. Certainly, it’s not exceptional but the price affordability is a big deal.
