Renault Megane RS

On the inside, the changes in the Renault Megane RS over the standard Renault Megane are not as pronounced as they are on the outside. Still, there are some elements which do try to convince you that you are sitting inside a sporty car. The all-black themed interior cabin gets lots of Alcantara leather for the steering wheel, sports seats and door pads.

The flat bottom multi-functional steering wheel along with the three pod part digital instrument console including a 7-inch MID makes for a thrilling looking driver’s cockpit. Completing the modernization part of the cabin is the large portrait-style touchscreen infotainment system, with small vertically laid AC vents adjacent to it and buttons for automatic climate control placed below it.

The cabin does get a lot of red stitching and garnishes here and there to accentuate its sporty appeal even more. For a sport-oriented car, the Renault Megane RS is quite spacious and can seat five passengers with quite an ease.

As we have already said above, the Renault Megane RS is based on the standard Renault Megane. However, Renault has managed to introduce some subtle tweaks and feature additions, which do make the Megane RS a whole lot sportier than the standard version.

The Renault Megane RS, at the front, gets a wide T-shaped grille with an upper black chrome garnish, and this black element does make it look sporty. Flanking this grille on either sides are C-shaped all-LED headlamps, which do incorporate C-shaped daytime running LEDs.

While all these elements do sound a bit common, what looks quite unique here are the chequered themed LED fog lamps placed within sporty looking bumper intakes. Speaking of the front bumper, it does get silver coloured lip spoiler at the bottom.

The side profile of the Renault Megane RS looks completely similar to the standard Renault Megane, with the differentiating factor here are larger and sportier-looking machined alloy wheels. The bulged theme for the rear fender does make the Renault Megane RS look quite muscular.

At the back, the Renault Megane RS gets quite a wide body theme design, with large and horizontally laid LED tail lamps stretching towards the middle of the boot. The characteristic LED insert running through the bottom of the tail lamps extend all the way towards the Renault logo in the middle.

What makes the Renault Megane RS quite interesting at the rear is the rear bumper design, which looks quite F1 car-like with a centrally mounted exhaust tip and air outlets towards its corners.

Complementing the well-calibrated powertrain of the Renault Megane RS is its fantastically sorted driving dynamics, with the car getting Pseudo Macpherson struts at the front and semi-rigid axle at the rear. The sport chassis, as well as disc brakes, all around do act as a perfect flavor in the recipe of the Renault Megane RS.

At the heart of the sporty Renault Megane RS is placed a 1.8-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which makes the car a hoot to drive. The engine, which is available with a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox as standard, does produce a maximum power output of 280 PS and a peak torque output of 390 Nm.

The Renault Megane RS is armed with a decent equipment list when it comes to safety, with the car getting front, side and curtain airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, blind post monitoring system, electronic stability control with anti-slip regulation, traction control and hill start assist.

The Renault Megane RS, with all the features and sporty elements in a fine amount, looks a million bucks. And adding to all that visual drama is the finely tuned chassis as well as a punchy turbo petrol engine, which takes the thrill factor of the car to a whole new level.
