Renault Scenic

While the Renault Scenic has an ultra-cool appearance on the outside, the interior cabin has been designed rather subtly. Agreed, it looks far from basic, but it is no match to the ‘wow’ factor of the exterior design.

Nevertheless, the interior cabin of the Renault Scenic manages to catch one’s fancy with its driver’s cockpit, consisting of a flat bottom multi-functional steering wheel with a three-pod full digital instrument console behind it.

The center console of the dashboard here has a cascading down design, with a large portrait-style touchscreen infotainment system taking the center stage at the upper portion of it, flanked by vertical AC vents. The lower portion of the center console here houses the transmission lever as well as an electric parking brake. 

What adds drama to the interior cabin of the Renault Scenic is the massive glass areas, which along with the huge moonroof above, gives an incredibly airy feel to the cabin. The cabin is already high on space, with a sufficient amount of room in the boot compartment as well.

The vehicles from Renault, in recent times, are breaking their barriers of being boring looking examples, and are appearing as well transformed ones with a great amount of visual appeal in them. The Renault Scenic is one such example, which looks like a mix of MUV and SUV, but has its own individualistic design, which looks beautiful, to say the least.

The sloping front profile of the Renault Scenic has a rakish front windscreen as well as front bonnet with smooth contours, both of which are almost at the same angle, thereby exhibiting aerodynamics in the best form. The wide front fascia of the Renault Scenic has a smile-like appearance with the stretched Y-shaped front grille flanked with cool-looking all-LED headlamps, the latter of which house dual LED projectors as well as C-shaped daytime running LEDs. The front bumper also comes integrated with prominent housings for the fog lamps with wedge-shaped chrome accents above them.

The side profile of the Renault Scenic looks quite unique, the major credits of which goes to the contoured window waistline. The contours of the front bonnet extend well towards the side profile along the window waistline. The upper chrome lining above the large windows, heavy chrome garnish below the doors and 20-inch well-sculpted machined alloy wheels add to the premium appeal of the Renault Scenic.

At the back, the Renault Scenic looks a bit toned down as compared to that on the front and side, with the long and curved beak shaped LED tail lamps and wide trapezoidal license plate housing with an upper chrome garnish being the major highlights here.

The Renault Scenic retains the traditional strengths of all the Renaults of offering smooth and great ride quality, with a solid suspension combination of Macpherson struts at the front and semi-rigid axle at the rear. Even the overall driving dynamics, including the feedback from the steering, is great too.

For the Singapore-spec model, Renault has plonked in a 1.5-litre four-cylinder diesel engine in the Scenic, which is being offered with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox as standard. The engine is highly frugal with a claimed fuel efficiency of 25 kmpl, and churns out a maximum power output of 110 PS and a peak torque output of 260 Nm.

The Renault Scenic has been decently equipped with sufficient amount of safety kit, comprising of the front, side and curtain airbags, ABS with EBD, blind-spot monitoring system, hill start assist, electronic stability control with anti-slip regulation, brake assist and reverse parking sensors with camera.

The Renault Scenic is not only a beautiful and unique looking vehicle but also is a mechanically well-sorted vehicle under the skin, with a potent and frugal engine as well as great chassis. It is not a proper SUV or MUV but provides the mixed versatility of both the body types.
