2020 Toyota Fortuner gets a new TRD Sportivo trim

It’s been only a matter of months when Toyota pulled the wraps off the mid-life facelift over the second generation of one of its chart-toppers, the Fortuner. The facelift was made available in several countries, including Thailand, Vietnam, and Indonesia. 

Interestingly, the automaker has now enhanced the looks of its mean machine with a sportier-looking trim, the TRD Sportivo for the Indonesian market. While the automaker already played a big move with its mid-cycle refresh, the TRD adds a bit more to the overall offering. 

The vehicle that now adapts to enhanced sporty appeal, receives similar updates that showcase a larger grille with redesigned LED headlamps. The headlamps are further complimented with seamless LED DRLs and a new set of bumpers on the front and rear.

The other facial changes around the vehicle include revised positions for fog lamps and a further detailed LED tail lamp. Adding to the sporty stance of the vehicle are dark accents that can be seen across the grille, front bumper, fog lamps, and mirrors. Interestingly, the vehicle rides on 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels that are wrapped in chrome black.

Powering the vehicle is a 2.4L diesel engine, churning out 148 horsepower and 400 Nm of peak torque in the Indonesian market. The Toyota Fortuner TRD is also expected to make its way to the Indian market with an updated 2.8-litre diesel engine.

On the inside, the Fortuner TRD Sportivo shares a significant resemblance with the standard facelifted model, besides the addition of a rear-seat entertainment system. Other notable features around the vehicle include a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay, ambient lighting, and connected car technology among others.

We hope the TRD Sportivo along with the facelifted Fortuner will soon make its way to the local market.
