2021 Audi A5 gets an aggressive ABT makeover

KUALA LUMPUR: 2020 marked a successful year for Audi as it introduced the facelifted A5. The new upgrades have been successfully amended across the lineup with a significant change in the performance and design language. To add on to the list of offerings on the new A5, Bavarian tuner ABT Sportsline introduced the aftermarket upgrade for the car.

The A5 made its debut as an executive car available in Coupe, Cabriolet, and Sportback format, in the year 2007. The current generation of the facelifted A5 gains several aesthetic improvements besides the new 35 TFSI S Tronic engine, offered in both diesel and petrol options.

Apart from its newly re-designed headlight and grille, the new ABT Sportsline package will be adding a major improvement in the design language. The package will be adding larger air intakes, glossy black carbon fibre rear spoiler which will enchase the aerodynamical performance of the car.

Another major highlight of the A5 Sportsline package will be the 19 or 20-inch rims available in ABT DR, ER-C, FR, and GR design choices. Customers will also be provided with optional height-adjustable suspension springs, allowing adjustable heights from 15 to 40 mm.

The A5 is powered by a 2.0-litre four-pot 40TFSI engine, maxing out a power of 190 hp and giving out 400 Nm of peak torque. The other power output is a similar turbodiesel variant, making 161 hp on the 35 TDI and 187 hp on the 40TDI engine accordingly.

Adding to the total output of the engine will the presence of ABT Engine Control, extending the abilities by over 10 hp, making it go beyond 200 hp and also adding to the torque delivery by over 100 Nm. Whereas, the petrol engine is expected to show similar results in the power and torque readings.

Getting inside, the changes amended by the Bavarian tuner are much more subtle. The aftermarket upgrade introduces a new ABT-sealed cover for the engine start/stop button. Changes can also be seen across the cabin with the gear shift knob. To add a more secluded look on the interior, ABT offers a view of the logo on the floor with projectors positioned at the base of the mirror.
