The Audi A4 Avant shares its cabin layout with the A4 sedan, but what makes the cabin of the former special is its execution. The differentiating elements in the Audi RS4 Avant are a flat-bottom RS sport contour leather steering wheel with aluminium paddle shifters, Nappa leather upholstery, RS sport seats with honeycomb pattern in crescendo red and an ambient lighting package.

The Audi RS4 Avant also gets a full-TFT virtual cockpit plus the display for the instrument console in its driver’s cockpit. There is a large rectangular infotainment system with a standalone design in the middle, which is compatible with Audi connect, Audi smartphone interface, MMI navigation plus with MMI touch and a premium Bang & Olufsen 3D sound system.

The other features which make the cabin of the Audi RS4 Avant special are a head-up display, three-zone automatic climate control, electrically adjustable front seats with massage function and memory function for the driver’s seat, and rain-sensing wipers.

The Audi RS4 Avant takes a leaf from the book of the Audi A4 sedan and improvises by adding in the space and practicality of a station wagon and performance of a sports car. The mixed elements of both these types of vehicles are evident in their design as well, which indeed looks sporty and practical at the same time.

The front profile of the Audi RS4 Avant looks very much like the Audi S4, a sportier variant in the A4 lineup. There is a huge trapezoidal grille with honeycomb inserts and RS logo at the front, above which there is another single horizontal vent. The sleek-looking trapezoidal LED headlamps with tapered inner edges are shared with the regular A4 sedan and get the unique segmented daytime running LED. The front bumper has large fog lamp housings with tapered edges and a large air dam in the middle characterized by a glossy skid plate.

It is the side profile from where the Audi RS4 Avant begins to differentiate itself from the A4 sedan. The RS4 Avant looks sleek and long with its station wagon body profile, with large side window panels making it look big. The Audi RS4 Avant looks sporty from the side as well, with the door-mounted rearview mirrors, sharp crease flowing sideways from headlamp to tail lamp and the large 20-inch forged black alloy wheels.

At the back, the Audi RS4 Avant has a sharply raked rear windscreen with an integrated roof spoiler at the top and aerodynamic skirts beside it. The wide LED tail lamps and boot lid design have been shared with those of the A4 sedan, but the rear bumper here is different with glossy black rear diffusers and large and rounded dual exhaust pipes, one each on either side.

The Audi RS4 Avant has got RS sport suspension with a multi-link setup and dynamic ride control at both front and rear, which are set on a stiffer side for a spirited driving experience. This experience is further enhanced by Quattro all-wheel-drive with the sport differential, which maintains the grip of the Audi RS4 Avant at all speeds.

The Audi RS4 Avant is powered by a 2.9-litre twin-turbocharged V6 petrol engine, which has become one of the most sought-after performance engines in the Volkswagen group’s family of sports offerings. The engine here is paired to an 8-speed Tiptronic transmission and gets Quattro all-wheel-drive as standard. The maximum power and torque outputs produced by this engine are 450 PS and 600 Nm respectively.

The Audi RS4 Avant is packed with safety amenities like ABS, ISOFIX mounts for child seats, front, side and curtain airbags, Audi drive select, adaptive cruise control, lane change warning, lane departure warning and park assist with a 360-degree camera.

The Audi RS4 Avant is not your everyday station wagon. It offers much more than that with a sportier styling in and out, special features all around, thrilling performance from the twin-turbo V6 under its hood and a sorted chassis which makes it driving a dream.
