2021 BMW iX scores 5-star in Euro NCAP test

Before its arrival in the Singapore market, the BMW iX has passed the latest Euro NCAP (European New Car Assessment Programme) with full marks. The European New Car Assessment Programme organizers have tested the xDrive 40 variant. 

The BMW iX gets a safety rating of 91% and 87% for adult occupant protection and child occupant protection, respectively. On the other hand, the vehicle’s rating in the safety assists system is at 81%. Moreover, in terms of the vulnerable road users category, it scores 73%. These figures ensure that the 2021 BMW iX is one of the safest cars in the world.

Additionally, the iX also comes with a host lot of safety features, which help the car come up with this 5-star rating. These include Advanced Driver Assistance Systems and side, front, and curtain airbags. Moreover, there is a unique center airbag between the front passenger and driver.

According to Dominik Schuster, BMW’s Head of Vehicle Safety, “The BMW iX sets new standards in sustainability, and its top rating of five stars in the Euro NCAP underlines the vehicle’s comprehensive sustainability concept. The extremely stable body structure and the extended range of restraint systems ensure an outstanding level of occupant protection. In addition, the BMW iX scores highly both in the test program and in everyday driving with innovative driver assistance systems that significantly reduce the risk of accidents in a wide array of situations.”

As per the sources, the carmaker will first launch the iX xDrive 40, which is rumored to give out a maximum power of 326 hp. Besides, the powertrain of the vehicle will comprise a 71kWh battery, giving out a driving range of 425 km. Talking of high speed, the BMW iX xDrive 40 can hit the three figures in just 6.1 seconds.
