BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe

The BMW 8-Series Gran Coupe again carves a niche for itself when it comes to interior cabin layout when compared to its other stablemates. While there are some parts that have been shared with other BMW sedans, like the sporty three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel as well as full TFT BMW’s virtual cockpit design, the overall layout of the dashboard, especially towards the center, looks quite different.

The front profile of the BMW 8-Series Gran Coupe has the traditional double kidney grille, which has a tapered design on its outer edges and is adjoined in the middle, with horizontal chrome slats within them and chrome surrounds. The headlamps flanking the grille are not joined to the grille like in other sedans from BMW, and stretch backward in a curved manner, with them incorporating full Laser LED lighting technology and sharp looking daytime running LEDs.

The side profile of the BMW 8-Series Gran Coupe is easily the best-looking one, with the long wheelbase and bonnet design giving it a stretched profile, which goes very well with the sloping roofline and frameless two-door design. The entire window frame gets chrome surrounds, with additional chrome highlights given the door handles as well as air vents placed in the front fender.

When moved towards the rear, the BMW 8-Series Gran Coupe continues to have that lovable sleekness in its design, with horizontally stretched L-shaped LED tail lamps and a thick integrated spoiler on the boot making it look elegant. The license plate housing is positioned slightly upward at the bottom of the boot lid.

Matching the dynamics of the stunning design of the BMW 8-Series Gran Coupe is its fantastically tuned suspension setup and steering feedback. The low slung stance and aerodynamic profile do help the BMW 8-Series Gran Coupe, which gets adaptive suspension setup, driving experience control with adaptive mode, integral active steering, and M-Sport differential, thus making it a fine car to drive.

The BMW 8-Series Gran Coupe in Singapore is made available with two engine options – one petrol and one diesel. While the petrol powertrain is a 3.0-litre six-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine which makes 340 PS of power and 500 Nm of torque, the diesel engine offered in it is a 3.0-litre six-cylinder oil burner, which produces 320 PS of power and 680 Nm of torque.

While the petrol engine is offered with both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations, the diesel is offered with an all-wheel drive as standard. 8-speed automatic transmission is standard in all the variants.

Apart from the usual inclusions like front, side, curtain, and knee airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, electronic stability control, traction control, hill start assist, hill descent control, 360-degree parking camera, front and rear parking sensors, the BMW 8-Series Gran Coupe also gets a complete driving assistant package, which includes Steering and Lane Control Assistant, Emergency Stop Assistant, Automatic Speed Limit Assist, Lane-Keeping Assistant with Active Side Collision Protection and Active Cruise Control with Stop&Go Function.
