2021 BMW M3 and M4 unveiled

BMW has finally pulled the wraps off their long-awaited M series. The M3 and M4 mark the automaker’s edge for performance and style. As per the spy photos, leaks and teasers, the models feature a bigger kidney-shaped grille as one of the major highlights.

The BMW M3 has been an effective offering for over 35 years in the market and has also been a hot spot for the automaker’s effective design and performance advancements. Considering the trend that has been effective for the BMW M, the present-generation M3 and M4 have a lot to offer to their users.

Talking of the design feature of the cars, the M3 and M4 have their grilles as the most polarizing style element. The other identical styling elements around the duo comprise larger body panels than their predecessors. The cars have adapted to a much wider fender besides gaining four exhaust tips on the rear.

The other styling cues around the M duo involve vertically-oriented front fenders and a long-running M-car signature. The vehicles also receive laser headlights and slim vertical vents for better performance. The cars run on 19-inch front and 20-inch rear forged alloy wheels that blend well with the aggressive black side skirts. The optional exterior mods include a painted steel roof if the customer wants a sunroof.

Powering the M3 and M4 is a similar 3.0L twin-turbocharged engine that is seen powering the X3 M and X4 M SUVs. The current generation M3/M4 duo gets a performance upgrade with an ‘S58’ engine that features direct injection and a “flow-optimized air intake system”.

The finely tuned engine setup develops 474 horsepower besides giving out a peak torque of 550 Nm, adding 50 hp and 50 Nm of torque than the outgoing F80 and F82 models. BMW has mated their new S58 engine to a six-speed manual gearbox with a new bell housing to generate the added power.

The automaker is also offering Competition-spec iterations of the models. These will be churning out 502 hp and 650 Nm, adding 52 hp and 100 over the previous Competition models.

On the inside, BMW M3 and M4 share identical highlights with the standard 3 Series and 4 Series models. These include a 10.25-inch central infotainment display and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. The other features are M1 and M2 steering wheel buttons, manual/automatic gear selector, and rich leather upholstery.

The price of the 2021 BMW M3 starts at USD 69,900 (SGD 96,198), while for the new M4, customers need to shell out USD 71,800 (SGD 98,810).
