2022 Suzuki Baleno is now up for grabs in India. The premium hatchback from the house of Maruti Suzuki carries the title “New Age Baleno’ and features a host of changes inside-out in its newest avatar. KEY TAKEAWAYS
How much does the new Suzuki Baleno cost?
The 2022 Suzuki Baleno price in India starts at INR 635,000 (SGD 11,429) and goes all the way up to INR 949,000 (SGD 17,080).A 360-degree camera system, along with a head-up display and cruise control, make for the most exciting addition to the revitalized Baleno.
The newest iteration of India’s one of the most popular hatchbacks flaunts a new pair of headlamps, which flanks a redesigned front fascia. A wider than before NEXWave grille, housing a stylised insert and chrome surround, is flanked by projector headlamps with three-element LED DRLs. The fog lamp housings are also new, with chrome accents sitting above the LED units. In terms of dimensions, the 2022 Baleno stands 3,990 mm (-5 mm) long, 1,745 mm wide, and 1,500 mm (-10 mm) tall. The wheelbase, just like the width, remains unchanged at 2,520 mm.
On the sides, the all-new Baleno looks familiar. The only changes include sharper shoulder lines and a chrome lower window garnish that runs higher up on the rear quarter glass. Newly designed 16-inch alloy wheels are the other notable changes on the sides. Move to the rear, and you will witness fresh C-shaped tail lights. The new units now extend onto the tailgate and are joined by a chrome strip, which is also home to the rear-view camera. A revamped bumper now houses the reflectors higher on either end.
The inside of the all-new Baleno greets you with a new modern-looking dashboard. The three-tone unit incorporates a 7- to 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It won’t be wrong to say the dashboard, as well as the instrument cluster and the steering wheel on the new-generation Baleno, have taken some cues from the S-Cross. The infotainment unit supports both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Lastly, the climate control system also features a brand-new set-up.
Powering the 2022 Baleno is the K12N Dualjet 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated 4-cylinder gasoline motor. The power figures read 90 PS at 6,000 rpm and 113 Nm of peak torque at 4,400 rpm. A 5-speed manual and an AMT are the two gearbox options to choose from. Maruti Suzuki claims the premium hatchback can return a mileage of up to 22.35 kmpl with the manual and 22.94 kmpl with the AMT.
The safety package comprises ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors with camera, ESP with hill hold assist (AMT only), up to six airbags, central locking and keyless entry, ISOFIX child seat anchors, and other features.
As for the colour options, the 2022 Baleno gets six different shades, namely Arctic White, Splendid Silver, Grandeur Grey, Nexa Blue, Opulent Red, and Luxe Beige. The Sigma, Delta, Zeta, and Alpha trims of the premium hatchback are priced from INR 635,000 (SGD 11,429) to INR 949,000 (SGD 17,080). The all-new Baleno will take on the likes of the Hyundai i20, Honda Jazz, Volkswagen Polo, and Tata Altroz in the Indian market.
