2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC global debut slated for June 1

The next-generation Mercedes GLC will be unveiled online at 11am ET on Wednesday, June 1. The event will be broadcast on Mercedes' online platform and on social media channels such as YouTube and Twitter.

Here are the first official photos of the upcoming 2023 Mercedes GLC compact luxury crossover, the SUV sibling to the Mercedes C-class sedan. We can see this X254-generation model's overall shape and proportions, and Mercedes has provided some details about it, which should arrive in the US later this year. It is still camouflaged, but you can clearly see its general shape.

With a wider stance and bulbous rear fenders, the revised model appears a bit larger than before. Despite competing with the BMW X3 and Audi Q5, the outgoing GLC has sold more than 2,70,000 units worldwide in 2021 alone. With a length of 4,718mm and a 15mm longer wheelbase, the new GLC will have more legroom and a bigger boot.

There will be a new bodyshell and new styling inside and out, just like the current generation Mercedes-Benz cars and SUVs. The prototype features five-spoke wheels with an interesting triangular shape, similar to the C-class sedan's headlights and taillights. According to Mercedes, the interior will feature a new steering wheel and the latest MBUX infotainment software, as well as large screens including a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and an 11.9-inch central infotainment screen.

GLC300 is likely to be the name of the base model again because it will be powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre inline-four and 48-volt hybrid system shared by the C300 sedan. As the new GLC shares a platform with the C-class, all-wheel drive will likely be optional, with rear-wheel drive standard. This combination will produce 255hp and 400Nm. The AMG C63 is expected to have a powertrain with over 500 horsepower, based on the hybrid four-cylinder powertrain for the C43 AMG.
