Audi Grandsphere concept revealed ahead of its IAA debut

It was earlier the past month that we came across hints of a new product coming from the automaker Audi. And now, it introduced us to its concept ‘Grandsphere’, which claimed to be the innovation for the brand’s design language.

At the time of its arrival, the convertible was touted to come in a two-seat layout design which would be accompanied by a fully electric powertrain, offering up to Level 4 autonomous driving. Well, the wraps are finally pulled off the upcoming Audi Grandsphere in a concept format ahead of its debut at the IAA Mobility Show 2021.

The Audi ‘Grandsphere’ is placed rightfully as second of the total three "sphere" concept vehicles that will be delivered from the brand.

Exploring a bit of the design feature, the Grandsphere gives out a feeling of "private jet for the road." The concept indeed does justice to the name as it gets an extra-long, streamlined approach that flaunts an exterior that is extra-long.

Audi Grandspher side

In terms of dimensions, the Grandsphere stands out at an astonishing length of 17.6 feet (5.4 meters), extending up to a width of 6.6 feet (2.0 meters). Further, the car rolls on a wheelbase of 10.5 feet (3.2 meters). Talking of the overall design concept, Audi’s designers admitted that they want their vehicle to be a "top value" proposition in the lineup.

Moving to the core USP of the concept car, its cabin! The Grandsphere brings a change that takes the brand to the next level. It eliminates any need for a steering wheel or transmission option. The ultra-high-tech cabin boasts a driver-specific ambient lighting display. Further, the passenger and driver seats are also set automatically, and the cabin adjusts the cabin’s temperature, in response to the weather outside.

Lastly, the car is powered by a Volkswagen Group’s Premium Platform Electric (or PPE), churning out a maximum output of 710 horsepower, besides pushing out a maximum peak torque of up to 960 Nm.
