Audi showcases RS6 GTO with a retro flavour
Audi marks 40 years of its Quattro four-wheel-drive brand by releasing a set of special events and series that showcase special editions of its cars. The latest one coming out from the German brand is the radically engineered RS6 GTO concept.
This true masterpiece was developed by a group of engineers at Audi's Neckarsulm factory. The RS6 Gran Turismo Omologata certainly gives Ferrari a run for its money with its unique and swanky design.
Outside, the RS6 GTO is heavily inspired by the likes of Avant. This wagon concept adapts its cues from the Audi 90 Quattro IMSA GTO race car. The car can be seen wrapped in shades of white, silver, grey, black and red, which can be seen across the turbofan rims and the exhausts as well.
Another major instance of the colour schematics can be seen around its wing, tinted tail lamps, and the full-width mouth.
Another major highlight of this car revolves around its wheel which seems to be something out of the world. The wheels are covered with one-piece hubcaps coloured in white. The tyres come with a Quattro badging and instances of red colour can be seen at its centre caps.
In terms of its technical adaption, the automaker has not revealed many details. However, considering the fact that the GTO is based on Audi's 591 bhp V8-powered 90 Quattro IMSA GTO, we can expect the car to be powered b a 2.2L five-cylinder powertrain.
On the other hand, RS6 Avant is powered by a 4.0L TFSI V8 engine that churns out a maximum power output of 600 hp besides giving out 800 Nm of peak torque. The drivetrain is powerful enough to cover 0-100 kmph sprint in a record time of 3.6 seconds.
Inside, the concept car’s cabin can be seen in Recaro carbon fibre race seats. The minimal design of the cabin can also be seen with a roll cage and a set of buttons.
