Audi teases the new Skysphere concept ahead of official reveal

Audi is all set to create a stir with its upcoming offerings. The automaker has teased one of its upcoming concepts, the Skysphere, ahead of the official reveal on August 10, 2021. The prototype which is all set to be unveiled at the automaker's new design studio will be one of the three concepts that are about to be introduced to the market.

Being a part of the original sphere trio, the Skysphere alongside the upcoming Grand Sphere luxury limo and the upcoming Urban Sphere SUV will be unveiled at the 2021 Munich Motor Show, and. All these three models will be showcasing the company’s future in terms of its design direction. The move marks an immense stroke at the automaker's electrified (and autonomous) future.

Further, talking about the car that will soon make its debut, Audi’s design boss, Marc Lichte, and vice president, Henrik Wenders, announced the debut date of the Skysphere via a short teaser video, which also included a few shots of the car.

Now, coming to the looks of the first show car, the Skysphere concept that will be first showcased on August 8 at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in California, the car is expected to feature roomy design language. As its name suggests, the car is expected to be an open-top grand tourer.

To back our claims and expectations, we can say that the recently released teaser presents us with an idea of a very long bonnet and cab-backward proportions.

Looking at the other videos that surfaced on the internet, we can say that concept will be carrying a low and sleek profile, dominated by its long bonnet and relatively short overhangs.

Giving us a few hints of the character design of the car, Lichte and Wenders affirmed that the prototype’s lines were inspired by the Horch 853A – one of Audi’s forward-thinking cars for its period, which was also featured in the clip.

Lastly, despite all that is to be said about its design, we are expecting the upcoming Skysphere to carry a front grille like Audi’s current models.
