BMW surprises all with an upgraded M5 CS
KUALA LUMPUR: BMW has decided to end the year on a high note. The automaker has teased an upgraded variant of the M5 C5 model, making the car lighter, faster, and better for 2021. The upcoming car that is due for January 2021 and was teased with a short 86 sec walkaround video, uploaded over the automaker's M social media pages.
The video revealed unique copper-finished kidney grilles, that were unique and added to the excitement. Further, giving out some more information around the details of the vehicle, BMW’s CEO Markus Flasch confirmed that the M5 CS will be 70 kg lighter than the likes of the M5 Competition, making it faster and agile.
Interestingly, the car will be featuring carbon-fibre bucket seats, courtesy of the latest design features of current-generation M3 and M4. Adding more to the list of surprises, the CEO said that it’s M2 CS will be a “true four-seater”, where occupants ‘can expect something in the rear”.
The styling of the M5 CS also revealed some really interesting highlights. The car picks up on forged aluminium wheels, wrapped up in gold bronze. The M5 CS also showcases exclusive carbon-ceramic brakes, further enhanced with red callipers.
Powering the car is a hi-power lightweight engine, the name for which is yet to be announced by BMW. The 4.4L twin-turbocharged V8 engine that is more refined over the existing M5 Competition, now gives out improved power output at 626hp besides churning out a peak torque of 750Nm.
Handling the power output is a 275/35 front tyre, complemented with a 285/35 rear Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres, besides its Nurburgring-developed suspension tune that adds to the overall comfort.
Lastly, while we have many things to uncover around the upcoming BMW M5 C5, we’ll have to wait for January 2021 to get further details around the same.
