BMW M3 and M4 likely to get hi-performance versions
It was only last year when the BMW automaker celebrated the 50th birthday of its M models and the Motorsport brand planned a series of anniversary models. Following the anniversary, the automaker is all set to revamp its future offerings, most likely the current G80 M3 and G82 M4 models.
As per news from the Bimmerpost forum, the two models are more likely to receive more aggressive treatment later next year. Claims also suggest that the new M4 CSL will make its way to the global platform in July 2022 while the M3 CS is likely to be revealed in 2023.
This way, the car would be placed exactly two decades between the M4 CSL and its M3-badged predecessor.
Currently, the M3 and M4 are powered by an S58 3.0L twin-turbo straight-six engine, churning out 473 hp of power, besides 550 Nm of peak torque at its base offering. On the other hand, the Competition model gives out around 503 hp of power, besides a peak torque output of 650 Nm.
Talking of the upcoming G80 and 82 duos, the automaker might stick to its traditional design language with an edgier spot, to make complete use of the aerodynamics. Further, we can also expect a re-designed bean grille that serves as the USP of its design language.
Now, talking of the technical specs of the upcoming M4 CSL, rumors suggest that the upcoming vehicle will be offering around 540 hp in terms of its power output that will come exclusively with an automatic transmission driving the rear wheels.
Further, options for the car also include 19- or 20-inch wheels that will come with a choice of sport or track-focused tyres, added with elements of carbon-fibre, standard racing M bucket seats, and an Alcantara steering wheel.
According to the report, the production run will take place from July 2022 to February 2023 and from July 2023 to February 2024 for the M4 CSL and M3 CS models, respectively.
