BMW M4 Competition Convertible marks its debut with M xDrive
It wasn’t long before BMW introduced us to its most aggressive duo, the BMW M3 and M4. Following their initial debut in September last year, the automaker is back with its latest offering. This time, BMW has decided to scale up their game with a convertible version of the M4.
With an official name of BMW M4 Competition Convertible with M xDrive, the automaker introduces us to a more refined and sporty version of its offering.
In terms of design, the car remains majorly the same with a significant change in the hardtop. Talking of the soft top, the car takes around 18 seconds to open and close it, given that the drivers can lift it up while traveling at varying speeds of up to 50 km/h. Apart from the folding soft top, other significant design alterations present include a lack of B-pillars and a remastered rear deck.
Also, the upcoming generation of the M4 Competition with xDrive is 40% lighter, thanks to the panel bow soft top. Available in color options of Black or Anthracite Silver, the roof of the car adds to the premium level acoustic and thermal comfort. Overall, the revised design makes the car lightweight and more practical in terms of size.
Beyond the design features, the automaker revealed that the car will be carrying 300 litres of luggage space with the roof down, and 385 litres with the roof up.
Moving in, the upcoming G82 is expected to resonate pretty much with the ongoing coupe variant. The car will be accompanied by four seats that were the standard, while the other looks and features around the cabin stay pretty much the same.
Lastly, the production of the model is expected to begin in July 2021, at BMW Plant Dingolfing. We can expect sales to begin in the fall of this year.
