KEY TAKEAWAYS
How many units of Ford GT will be made in 2022?
Ford will make the final 250 units of GT by the end of this year. What powers the ongoing Ford GT?
The Ford GT is powered by a 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 engine, which delivers a maximum power output of 669 PS and a peak torque of 746 Nm.The 2014 model was an ultra-exclusive one whose production started in December 2016. It also came with a two-year sale restriction contract and was incredibly difficult to obtain in the first place. As a result, the production for the 2014 Ford GT started with 1350 units, and now, Ford will be closing it off with just 250 units till December 2022.
Ford also produced a ton of heritage GT Editions along the way. For example, there was a 1964 Prototype Heritage Edition, 1966 No.2, a 1966 Daytona No.98, a red 1967’s No.1, and 1968’s No.9 (complete with Gulf Livery).
There is another Heritage Edition for 2022. The Ford GT Alan Mann Heritage Edition is a tribute to Alan Mann Racing’s 1966 Ford GT edition, an experimental lightweight prototype. It played a significant role in the future development of Ford GT vehicles.
Ford also created an AM GT-1 in the 1965-66 phase, where they used lighter materials. They also built another vehicle based on the GT Mk I. Both prototypes have the same lightweight materials as the GT MK II that won the Le Mans in 1966. The current variants also possess a carbon-fibre body to keep up with the lightweight vehicle trend.
The current 2014 edition has a powerful 3.5L twin-turbo V6 engine that first delivered a power output of 656 PS and 746 Nm of torque. Ford later upgraded the machine in their 2020 model to provide a power output of 669 PS. The vehicle also has a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and the Ecoboost engine to provide an experience of a lifetime.
The current model also has “flying buttresses”, a couple of huge central exhaust pipes. They are situated beside the tunnels that channel air from the rear to the door rears.
