Ford Introduces a perfume for the petrolheads

In a real turn of events, Ford teamed up with fragrance company Olfiction to develop Mach-Eau, one of the most incredible and rare perfumes to have existed. As per a survey by the automaker, one in every five drivers said that they’ll be missing out on the smell of petrol, while they’re or will be swapping out on electric modes of communication.

Therefore, keeping in mind the stats of over 70% of people that claimed to miss the smell of petrol to some degree, the automaker has come up with a bottled scent, giving undertones of gasoline and new car interiors.

As per the official press release, Mach-Eau’s fragrance is engineered “for those who crave the performance of the new all-electric Mustang Mach-E GT yet still hold a fondness for the evocative smells of traditional petrol cars.”

Olfiction officially revealed that Ford had commissioned the brand to develop a unique fragrance, to be called the Mach-Eau. The name is set in order to promote the automaker’s upcoming electric offering, the Mustang Mach-E GT.

Interestingly, these bottles of perfume aren’t just any petrol-filled scent. Pia Long, an associate perfumer in the British Society of Perfumers, officially designed this unique fragrance by first studying about the chemicals emitted from the car’s engines, interiors, and petrol.

As per the expert, the list of chemicals secreted by the car includes benzaldehyde, an almond-like essence inside the interiors, and para-cresol, one of the key ingredients to tyre scent.

Further, talking about their latest development, Jay Ward, director of Ford of Europe product communications, said. “Judging by our survey findings, the sensory appeal of petrol cars is still something drivers are reluctant to give up. The Mach-Eau fragrance is designed to give them a hint of that fuel-fragrance they still crave. It should linger long enough for the GT’s performance to make any other doubts vaporise too.”

While the petrol-like fragrance isn’t up for sale, the list of ingredients is now officially available.
