Ford’s Bronco reveals Riptide: A West Coastal lifestyle-inspired off-road vehicle

The sixth-generation Ford Bronco unveiled in July 2020 met with a long delay of production, which only started this year in June. However, if that wasn’t good enough, Bronco has revealed an exciting custom-made Riptide, which has been designed to make way for factory-backed personalization once it is out.

The Bronco Riptide looks like a hardcore outdoor vehicle, built keeping the West-Coastal lifestyle in mind and meant for people who love taking on the coastline of the US. It is given the Velocity Blue paint job to replicate the color of the sea. It has surfboard racks, open doors, and a rubberized washout floor, making it the perfect rugged vehicle to head on for a beach day.

Getting to the specification sheet, the Bronco Riptide is built with prominent off-roading traits, the 35-inch mud-terrain tyres on the 17-inch wheels being the prime example of the same. But that’s not all; there are optional fitments available from the Ford Performance line, like the Dana AdvanTEK electronic-locking axles, Bilstein position-sensitive shock absorbers, and Beadlock rings. This offroad package will be mated to the Bronco Terrain Management System, having seven GOAT modes to ‘go over any terrain’.

The revealed design cues show that the front steel bumper is a prototype. The two prototype crossbars bolted together to the sport bar show how overhead racks can be mounted without tampering with the soft-top. The vehicle is laden with accessories that customers can install at the factory. These accessories include a Bestop mesh Bimini top, an LED light bar, off-road lights mounted on the mirrors, and a Yakima bike rack.

Under the hood, the Bronco Riptide gets a 2.7-litre V6 turbo EcoBoost engine that pumps out 310 hp power and 542 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 10-speed auto gearbox and features like Trail Turn Assist, Trail One-Pedal Drive, and Trail Control. Apart from this, the beach vehicle will also have a 270 hp and 420 Nm 2.3-litre 4-cylinder EcoBoost turbo engine with a 7-speed manual gear stick.

The color and material manager of Bronco, Missy Coolsaet, has mentioned that Bronco Riptide has been made keeping customers who are fond of beach days in mind. It will allow the customers to customize their Bronco extensively and visualize how it could be personalized further.
