Nissan’s Juke-sized EV reportedly in the works
Nissan is all set to launch a compact SUV to further enhance its B-segment lineup, as per reports by Auto Express. Expected to be based on the Juke, this electric SUV is said to help the automaker strengthen its EV presence in the UK and Europe.
Talking of the platform, the upcoming model is likely to feature a compact version of its electric-specific CMF-EV architecture. The said architecture underpins Renault’s electric Mégane crossover, and Nissan's forthcoming Ariya SUV.
Talking of the CMF-EV platform, Nissan Europe’s head of EV, Helen Perry, commented: “A platform investment is huge. For sure, there will be useful for the [CMF-EV> platform for something more than Ariya. We wouldn’t have invested in a brand-new Alliance platform unless there was another usage planned.”
Similar to the Ariya, the upcoming compact SUV will be offered in multiple powertrain configurations. The suggested configurations will be 2WD and AWD, as per reports. However, despite its plan to share similar underpinnings with the Juke, we can expect the car to be more spacious and powerful, when compared to the combustion-powered Juke.
Further, the upcoming Nissan will also be featuring an e-4ORCE all-wheel driveline, as suggested by Nissan Europe’s general manager of product planning. The general manager added that the upcoming compact crossover will have its place around key players like Ariya and Megane. Asserting in their USP around B-segment SUV class, the representative was confident about their upcoming B-Segment offering.
Talking of the e-4ORCE platform, the AWD electric platform implements the lessons from Nissan GT-R‘s ATTESA E-TS torque split system, besides adapting to corrections from the Patrol‘s intelligent 4×4 technology. The e-4ORCE platform will be offering improved torque delivery to individual axles and is expected to deliver seamless traction to the car.
While it’s too early to draw conclusions, we can only expect that the upcoming B-segment might give us the best of styling and architect by Nissan.
