Nissan’s next-generation March will be developed by Renault

Known as Micra in some markets, Nissan’s upcoming March will be designed and assembled by Renault, as reported by Reuters. Nissan is all set to co-partner with Renault for the production of the hatchback’s sixth-generation.

According to the report, a senior executive at the Japanese firm affirmed that the two companies would be working closely. The decision is expected to reboot their alliance with tighter cooperation in production.

Nissan’s COO, Ashwani Gupta, came up with the news in an interview with French newspaper Le Monde. Gupta said, “For the next generation of Micra, we will follow Renault, and we will ask Renault to develop and make the future Micra for us,” he said. Further, he also added that “the Micra development plan was an example of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance’s new ‘leader-follower’ strategy, with one firm taking the lead on certain car types.”

Besides being a motto to re-establish their alliance, both the automakers have presented signs of weak financial conditions. However, before coming into the ‘cost-saving’ merger, Renault and Nissan have cleared the decks of old managers to give way to a fresh start and move on from the scandal surrounding former alliance boss Carlos Ghosn.

Nissan’s latest offering in the Singapore market is a sporty looking EV that goes by the name Nissan Kicks e-Power. The car presents a mammoth difference in its styling appeal from its other cousins manufactured by the brand.

The car comes with some premium features and an eye-catchy appeal. It boasts a spacious cabin packed with the latest technologies. The Kicks e-Power is powered by a 95 kW electric motor that is efficient enough to give away 128 PS of pure electric power and delivers 260 Nm of peak torque. The car is offered at a starting price of SGD 1,00,000.

Lastly, considering the alliance news, we can expect a much advanced and sleek-looking March by Renault.
