Porsche reveals the new 992-gen Porsche 911 GTS
Porsche introduced the first GTS 911 back in 2009 and now after twelve years, it has come up with its all-new generation, called the 992-gen Porsche 911 GTS. The powerful machine is expected to bridge the gap between the Carrera S and its more powerful variants of the GT3 and Turbo models.
Similar to before, the car has been presented to us in three different body styles, the Cabriolet, Coupe, and Targa, to choose from. Interestingly, the latter gets all-wheel-drive and is called the 911 Targa 4 GTS, if we look at the full name of the offering. On the other hand, the Carrera GTS and Carrera 4 GTS – denote the setting of rear- and all-wheel-drive. These drive settings are offered in Cabriolet and Coupe forms, making it five GTS variants in total.
Now, considering that the automaker knows how to keep up with its formula of success, Porsche offers a similar powertrain in the 992-generation GTS range, which was previously seen over other generational offerings. The beast continues to derive its power from the turbocharged 3.0L Boxer six-cylinder engine, which is more fine tuned than before.
Overall, the mill is potent enough to churn out a decent 480 hp of power, besides giving out a 570 Nm of torque at its peak. Similarly, as it was the case with the earlier releases of 992 Carrera and Carrera S models, the transmission system here is an eight-speed PDK dual-clutch automatic that serves as a standard form of transmission. However, enthusiasts also have the option to go for a short-throw seven-speed manual.
In terms of its power outputs, all the models present a similarly appealing performance against the stopwatch. The fastest of the lot is the Carrera 4 GTS PDK, giving out a speed of up to 100 km per hour, at a given time of 3.3 seconds. On the other hand, the rear-wheel-drive models come equipped with a manual transmission that is able to pull off the clock in 4.1 seconds, dropping back to 3.4 seconds, when equipped with PDK.
Besides, the automaker has also focused a bit on its voice assistant. The sports car will be available in Germany later this year.
