Porsche Macan

On the inside, the Porsche Macan doesn’t look as futuristic as the new brigade of other all-new generation Porsches like 911, Panamera, Taycan, and Cayenne. However, it still looks modern and cool enough to justify its premium tag well enough.

The driver’s cockpit does with a simple three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel and a three-pod instrument console, which in typical Porsche fashion, gets a centrally placed tachometer. The center console of the dashboard of the Porsche Macan is graced by a very large rectangular touchscreen infotainment system, just below of which there are AC vents with tapered outer edges placed.

The upper layer of the dashboard gets a classy looking analog clock tucked in between horizontally laid speakers. The high running transmission tunnel houses an array of controls, including that of the dual-zone automatic climate control and suite of electronics.

From the looks of it, the Porsche Macan looks like a scaled-down version of the mighty Cayenne in every sense. The traditional Porsche silhouette and design philosophy of having a streamlined rounded design has been well executed for the Macan as well. However, when compared to the SUVs and crossovers of its league, the Porsche Macan doesn’t look as distinctive and somehow lacks the road presence of a luxury SUV due to its not so heightened stance and compact dimensions.

The front look of the Porsche Macan looks simple but has got a hint of aggression to it, thanks to the wide front grille which is placed quite low and has rounded edges. The sides of the grille are being flanked with sporty-looking air vents with sharp fins and daytime running LEDs on them. Above these air vents are placed the main headlamps, which do look rounded and slanted and needless to say, are full-LED units.

From the sides, the Porsche Macan looks more of a traditional crossover, with its curvy roofline and bonnet, which gives it a squatted stance and not a heightened one. The overall silhouette, however, looks clean and elegant, with the door-mounted rear view mirrors and rounded wheel arches looking nice as well.

From the back, the Porsche Macan has a great sense of width, thanks to the very tempting looking LED light bar which runs across the width of the boot lid and joins the sleek-looking LED tail lamps. The simple-looking roof spoiler as well as small trapezoidal housing for the license plate on the rear bumper has been designed neatly as well.

The Porsche Macan stays true to its Porsche genes of being a perfect driver’s car, thus giving a great experience behind the steering wheel. Blessed with top-spec bits like air controlled Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), Porsche Traction Management (PTC), Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus, and off-road button, the Porsche Macan is an all-rounder with decent off-road skills as well.

The Porsche Macan is being offered with a range of engine options for all the four variants, all of which are in a different state of tunes. The base Macan gets a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo-petrol (252 PS/370 Nm), while the Macan S gets the more powerful 3.0-liter six-cylinder turbo-petrol (354 PS/480 Nm). A 2.9-liter six-cylinder twin turbo-petrol is being offered in the other two variants – the Macan GTS (380 PS/520 Nm) and Macan Turbo (440 PS/560 Nm). In all the variants, a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox is the standard transmission option.

With all the premium safety features like front, side, curtain, and knee airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist with ceramic brakes, hill hold control, hill start assist, 360-degree camera with front and rear park assist, lane keep assist, lane change assist, blind-spot monitoring system and adaptive cruise control, the Porsche Macan ranks high on safety as well.

The Porsche Macan is essentially a scaled-down Porsche Cayenne, which makes it equally modern, premium, and thrilling to drive, minus the intimidating stance and additional costs the latter asks. It is not too practical due to limited off-road driving credentials and not so roomy cabin but is high on aspirational value with the prestigious Porsche badge on it.
