Subaru’s STI E-RA Motorsport Concept revealed at TAS

We could not be more excited when Subaru and STI (Subaru Tecnica International), the brand’s motorsport subsidiary, revealed a total of six vehicles at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2022. While each model was better than the other, the real showstopper was the STI E-RA Subaru’s STI E-RA Motorsport Conceptconcept. Let’s check out what the revelation of this concept offered.

Subaru proudly stated that this near-future motorsport study project would pave the way for new technologies to bring about carbon neutrality. The company has an ambitious target for the new vehicle - a 6 minutes 40 seconds lap time for the 2023 Nurburgring. And the name of the vehicle E-RA or Electric-Record Attempt is a tribute to this aim.

The STI E-RA will be fitted with four electric motors to achieve this target - each motor is for each wheel. The vehicle will be equipped with a powerful lithium-ion 60kWh battery with a maximum power output of 800 kW. It will also feature torque vectoring technology for enhanced performance.

The exterior design of the new STI E-RA concept car looks stunning. The front end takes inspiration from the McLaren P1 with the standard C-shaped Subaru lights. Several aerodynamic features have been introduced to elevate the airflow of the vehicle. It includes a rear wing, a rear diffuser, and a huge front splitter. Subaru has introduced a huge roof scoop and a vented bonnet to cool down the electronics. Also, the front fenders and a massive portion of the sides have been carved out to maintain a lightweight.
