Volkswagen ID.5 GTX officially announced for debut on November 3

Volkswagen is prepping up to showcase its next big launch in the world of electric cars, the all-new ID.5 GTX. The official announcement of the unveiling of the Volkswagen ID.5 GTX has been made on Volkswagen News’ official Twitter account, which will make its debut on November 3. The fully electric SUV was teased at the Munich Motor Show in October 2021, where it wore a dual-tone camouflage hiding its identity.

As it is evident from the camouflaged model showcased, the Volkswagen ID.5 GTX will have a heightened stance with a coupe-like roofline, much like what we have already seen in cars like Porsche Cayenne Coupe. While the front profile looks more or less the same as the ID.4 GTX with a wide front fascia and LED headlamps, the rear profile boasts of a sharply flowing down windscreen, which ends up with a wide tailgate-mounted spoiler and wide LED tail lamp cluster spread across the width of the SUV.

The new Volkswagen ID.5 GTX will be made available as a slightly bigger car over the already existing ID.4 GTX and will be a performance-oriented SUV with grand touring credentials. In all likelihood, the ID.5 GTX will source its power from a dual-motor setup, which will form an all-wheel-drive configuration and produce a maximum power output of 299 PS.

The Volkswagen ID.5 GTX will be equipped with a 77 kWh battery as standard, which will offer a maximum driving range of up to 497 km. In comparison, the slightly smaller but almost similarly powerful ID.4 GTX offers a range of 480 km. Apart from supporting the 11 kW AC charger as standard, a 30-minute fast charging process through a 125 kW DC fast charger can give the SUV a driving range of up to 300 km.

Like all the new-generation Volkswagen cars, the new ID.5 GTX will be a fully connected car, as it will be compliant to over-the-air software updates and have Car-to-X technology from the eighth-generation Volkswagen Golf. With the Car-to-X technology, the ID.5 GTX can support and communicate with infrastructure and services around it. It will also alert the car with traffic updates and emergency services on the way.
