Volkswagen teases an upcoming small crossover bound for the US
With the release of a teaser video, Volkswagen is all set to unveil a new crossover in the US market. The new offering is set to be positioned below the Tiguan in the brand’s lineup and will make its official debut on October 13, 2020.
Though the automaker refused to share any further details on its upcoming offering, the instances of the upcoming model can be related to a slide from a 2019 presentation by the brand.
Previously, in 2019 Volkswagen came up with the plans to introduce a sub-Tiguan crossover called ‘Tarek’ in Canada, the United States, and Mexico. As per the sources, Tarek is closely related to Volkswagen Tharu, which the automaker currently sells in China.
Exclaiming his excitement on the upcoming offering, Scott Keogh, President, and CEO of Volkswagen Group of America said, "We’re excited to share the first glimpse of the newest member of the Volkswagen family," he further added. "Great things come in small packages, as Volkswagen has proven throughout the years with its iconic Beetle, Golf and Jetta. This next car will be no exception."
Considering the looks of what can be seen in the teaser video, the compact crossover shows a unique design concept at its front end. It might be seen with an array of long LED strip, running across the bonnet of the vehicle, right above the grille. Besides the first impression from its teaser, nothing else can be understood about the model.
Apart from this, the world’s second-largest automotive group is boosting forward in its truly electric transformation. Termed as the “Roadmap E”, Volkswagen announced its plans to introduce up to three million electric vehicles in the automobile segment on an annual basis by 2025. The brand will also market 80 new electric Group mode.
Talking about their achievements and accomplishments so far, Volkswagen CEO Müller explained in Berlin, “Over the last few months, we have pulled out all the stops to implement ‘Roadmap E’ with the necessary speed and determination”.
Lastly, Volkswagen will lift the curtains off its new crossover very soon, till then we are only left with theory and expectations.
