KEY TAKEAWAYS
What powers the Volkswagen ID. Buzz?
Volkswagen ID. Buzz is powered by a 203 PS electric motor. The juice to this motor is supplied by a 77kWh battery. The ID. Buzz takes styling cues from the T1 microbus. A boxy shape, short front and rear overhangs, two-tone paintwork, and a V-shaped front panel flanked by a pair of LED headlights form the front fascia of the long-awaited vehicle. Room inside the ID. Buzz is aplenty as it offers up 1,121 litres of boot space with all five seats in place. Folding the second row down takes the boot to a whopping 2,205 litres. The ID. Cargo, on the other hand, offers a humungous 3,900 litres of cargo space.
The interior also carries stuff like a 5.3-inch digital instrument display, 10- or 12-inch infotainment touchscreen, several useful storage spaces around the cabin, and up to eight USB ports.
Power on the ID. Buzz comes from a 203 PS electric motor. The juice to this motor is supplied by a 77kWh battery, which sits under the vehicle for a low centre of gravity as well as better weight distribution. Thanks to a maximum supported charging rate of 170kW, the ID. Buzz can go from 5% to 80% in around just minutes.
Ralf Brandstätter, Chairman of the Board of Management of Volkswagen Passenger Cars, said, “The ID. Buzz is a genuine icon for the electric era. A car, the likes of which only Volkswagen can build. In the 1950s, the Volkswagen Bulli stood for a new feeling of automotive freedom, independence and great emotion. The ID. Buzz picks up on this lifestyle and transfers it into our time: emission-free, sustainable, fully networked and now ready for the next big chapter: autonomous driving. With this car, we are bringing together the core themes of our ACCELERATE strategy in one product for the first time.”
We should see the ID. Buzz and the ID. Cargo hitting the European roads in Q3 2022.
