Audi A3 Sedan

The Audi A3 is as futuristic, edgy, and youthful on the inside, as it is on the outside. The cabin is a good mix of sharp-looking panels and crisp and high-resolution screens, which make it look like a cabin from a car from the future. The all-black finish for the upholstery makes the cabin of the A3 look sporty and classy at the same time.

The driver’s cockpit of the Audi A3 looks very appealing with the satin chrome finish for the lower spoke of the multi-functional steering wheel and the full TFT instrument console, which Audi likes to call ‘virtual cockpit plus’ display. On both the sides of the instrument console, there are big and edgy-looking AC vents, which give you an ‘in-your-face’ look. The middle layer of the dashboard is executed in a rich-looking piano black finish and houses a large touchscreen infotainment system that supports the MMI interface. The lower centre console houses a trapezoidal panel for the dual-zone automatic climate control and the small electronically controlled transmission lever.

The Audi A3 is equipped with features like manually adjustable front sport seats with 4-way lumbar support, ambient lighting, and a 6-speaker audio system. However, customers can upgrade the car with a more premium Bang & Olufsen audio system, Audi phone box light, and MMI navigation plus with MMI touch panel.

The Audi A3 always inclined the younger audience with the way it looks, and in this new generation version, it looks the edgiest in its entire history. There are a lot of creases and sharply designed elements, which make it look extremely trendy and sporty for a car of its size.

At the front, the Audi A3 has a large hexagonal grille with honeycomb chrome inserts and chrome surrounds, which gives it a face of bigger Audis. However, it differentiates itself from the rest of the Audi sedans with the way its headlamps look – the inverted L-shaped all-LED headlamps get characteristic daytime running LEDs. The aggressive-looking air dams on the sides of the front bumper come with satin silver touches on their outer edges.

The side profile of the Audi A3 might not have changed much over the previously available version. However, the crisp character line flowing across the door panels just below the shoulder line gives it a sharp look. Other elements which add a touch of elegance to the side profile of the A3 include satin chrome surrounds for the side windows, door-mounted rear-view mirrors and great-looking 17-inch machined alloy wheels.

At the back, the edgy and wide-looking tail lamps now get revised LED inserts, which mimic the pattern of the LED DRLs in the headlamps. The nicely integrated spoiler in the upper boot lid and satin chrome garnish across the width of the rear bumper complete the look of the A3 at the back. Audi also offers the options of bigger 18-inch machined alloy wheels, panoramic sunroof and Matrix LED headlamps at an extra premium.

The Audi A3 sedan comes with a standard setup for the suspension – Macpherson struts at the front and multi-link at the rear, which is tuned slightly on a stiffer side for a more spirited driving experience. However, for comfort, the car comes equipped with drive select and pre-sense systems. For a sportier driving experience, the Audi A3 can also be specced with an optional sport suspension.

The Audi A3 sedan is powered by a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which happens to be the smallest engine in the current Audi lineup. Coupled with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, the engine features cylinder deactivation and pumps out a maximum power output of 150 PS and a peak torque output of 250 Nm.

The new Audi A3 is equipped with a decent number of safety features like front, side, and curtain airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, reverse camera, cruise control, hill hold assist, tyre pressure monitoring system, lane departure warning and ISOFIX mounts for child seats.

The edgy styling on the outside and inside, coupled with premium and youthful features and a peppy powertrain, make the Audi A3 a perfect stepping stone in the world of luxury motoring.
