BMW X6

While the exterior design of the BMW X6 looks individualistic, the cabin of the SUV isn’t. The entire layout of the cabin of the BMW X6 has been shared with that of the BMW X5. However, that’s not a bad thing, because this layout is very cool-looking and tech-laden in general.

The BMW X6 gets a three-spoke M steering wheel with a 12.3-inch full-TFT instrument console behind it, a combination that is becoming standard across the entire BMW lineup. The cabin looks even more tech-laden with the presence of a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which operates on the latest operating software and is compatible with gesture control.

The cabin of the BMW X6 is finished in design-perforated Vernasca leather, which is a combination of black and tan leather and gets aluminium tetragon inserts at places. The cabin is equipped with a host of premium and rich features like ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof, four-zone automatic climate control, headliner anthracite, comfort access system, velour floor mats, powered and ventilated sports seats at the front, electric tailgate, BMW digital key, head-up display, BMW connected package professional, wireless charger and a premium Harman Kardon surround sound system.

The BMW X6 is one of the very few SUVs which blend in the form of a coupe and an SUV in a single package. This unique stance of the BMW X6 gives it its own identity of a stylish vehicle in its segment, which makes it an incredible head-turner.

With this third-generation model, BMW upsized the double-kidney grille, which now has tapered edges on its sides, thus making the front fascia look bigger and wider. The headlamps now have a sweptback design, but continue to have the double-corona ring-like appearance with C-shaped daytime running LEDs around the laser LED projectors.

The BMW X6 sold in Singapore is available in a single M Sport design trim, which introduces sporty-looking bits like large air dams around the fog lamps and in between the front bumper. The side profile is where the real visual drama of the BMW X6 commences. The SUV has a tapering down roofline – a trend which BMW X6 started as an SUV and was later on followed by other carmakers. The taut shoulder line and air recesses in the front fender give it an athletic look. The BMW X6 comes with 21-inch Y-spoke alloy wheels as standard.

At the back, the BMW X6 looks unique with the sharply raked rear windscreen and slimmer-looking LED tail lamps. The license plate housing has been repositioned on the rear bumper, which further gives a cleaner look to the stubby boot lid. Here too, the M Sport influence can be seen in the lower parts of the rear bumper. The SUV also comes with high-gloss Shadow Line influence on the roof rails, rear carbon spoiler, and a few other bits.

The BMW X6 follows the carmaker’s tradition of offering ‘sheer driving pleasure’ despite its increased ride height and unconventional body design. Armed with BMW’s xDrive all-wheel-drive system, which has four different off-road modes to choose from, the X6 gets adaptive M suspension with multiple suspension settings. There are four different drive modes as well – Sport, Comfort, Eco Pro, and Adaptive, all of which have personalized driving experience to suit one’s preference.

The only engine and transmission combination available for the Singapore-spec BMW X6 is a 3.0-litre inline-six twin-turbocharged petrol engine coupled to an 8-speed Steptronic automatic gearbox. The engine is capable of putting up a maximum power output of 333 bhp and a maximum torque output of 450 Nm. Equipped with a 48V mild-hybrid technology, the engine propels the BMW X6 to a top speed of 248 kmph, with a 0-100 kmph time of 5.7 seconds.

The BMW X6 is loaded to the gills with several safety features, which truly justify its premium positioning. It gets all the modern autonomous driving assistance systems and the conventional safety features like airbags all around, vehicle stability control, hill hold assist, hill descent control, front and rear parking sensors, and a 360-degree camera.

While the BMW X6 has broken a few norms in the design trends in SUVs with its coupe-like roofline, it is a true BMW in every sense, when it comes to sheer driving pleasure and luxurious appeal on both outside and inside.
