There’s an immediate realization of roominess as soon as you hop inside the Lexus ES. The automaker has luxuriously crafted the interior with every human need in mind. There is plenty of legroom and headroom for both front and rear passengers. Cabin material is top-notch, and you will hardly spot the use of mediocre plastic. The Lexus ES is a long and wide Sedan with a low stance and coupe-like styling; it looks both sporty and luxurious. With a sharp front face, that includes a colossal spindle grille (very distinguishing) and sleek daytime running LED headlamps, it is hard not to notice the strong presence of the ES. The long sloping roofline goes all the way to the back, accentuating its wider and lower stance. The sides are mellowed down a bit in contrast to the sharp front, thereby balancing the overall profile. At the rear, you get sharp LED tail lights that add to the sophisticated looks of the sedan. For improved handling and control, Lexus has equipped the ES with an Electric Power Steering (EPS); it offers a crisp and clean response and an excellent feel. Performing the suspension duties are Macpherson Strut at the front and Double Wishbone at the rear. To boost the comfort and driving experience of the driver and passengers, Lexus has fitted performance dampers at the rear and the front which quickly absorbs flex and vibrations. A V-shaped brace behind the rear seats adds to the rigidity for superior stability. The body rigidity is further enhanced by the use of advanced technologies like the structural body adhesives and laser screw welding.

Powering the Lexus ES is a 2487cc, 2.5-litre, 4-cylinder, 16-valves VVT petrol engine which has been fine-tuned to offer more efficiency. The ES 250 creates max power of 203 hp at 6,600 rpm and peak torque of 247 Nm at 5,500 rpm; while the ES 300 H generates max power of 214 hp at 5,700 rpm and peak torque of 221 Nm at 3,600 rpm. This power is transmitted to the wheels using an eight-shift auto transmission setup. The AI-Shift Control predicts the driver’s input, based on multiple factors, to offer well-timed, quick gear shifts. With the ES 300 H (Hybrid) model you get a Permanent Magnet motor that has a max output of 88 kW and a peak torque of 202 Nm; the Nickel Metal Hydride battery is backed by 204 battery cells. You can select an appropriate driving mode based on your driving style from three modes – Normal, Eco and Sport. 

A ventilated disc at the front and a solid disc at the rear perform braking duties on the Lexus ES; it comes equipped with ABS. There are plenty of safety features to enhance the overall safety quotient like 10 sensor-controlled airbags, adaptive high beam system, pre-collision system, blind-spot monitoring, dynamic radar cruise control, wide-angle cornering lights, parking assist, lane departure assist, etc. 

The Lexus ES is a nice, long, front-wheel drive saloon car with coupe-like styling. It comes with an attractive price tag and has plenty to offer for a car in this range.
