MINI Clubman

On the inside, the Mini Clubman has a familiar look, with the cabin layout retained from the Mini hatchback. Several things are offered as standard, while several things are available as a part of optional equipment. There is a lot of influence of rounded elements in the cabin, which makes the cabin look unique and youthful. The all-black cabin of the Clubman has faux carbon fibre and dark chrome touches on the dashboard and door panels.

The round-themed multi-functional steering wheel with a Union Jack at the bottom gets a full-TFT instrument console with rounded side edges behind it. In his field of vision, the driver also gets a comprehensive head-up display setting mounted on the dashboard. The centre console has a rounded influence with a large circular housing getting a wide 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The lower centre console also has a wide housing that accommodates rounded dials for the AC and toggles like switches for various functions below it. The funky looking transmission lever and drive mode selector knob behind it looks nice too.

The Mini Clubman is a stretched version of the standard five-door version of the Mini Cooper hatchback, and that is very evident by the overall appearance of the car on the outside. The Clubman retains much of the design of the Mini Cooper hatchback at the front and the side, but to add some distinctiveness, the rear profile is completely different.

At the front, the Mini Clubman has a funky look with the iconic rounded headlamps, which here are much bigger than ever before and get complete LED illumination with rounded daytime running LED. There is a huge grille placed between the headlamps, which has rounded sides and gets a thin strip of chrome running in the middle of it. There is a thin hood scoop present just above the grille. The lower portion of the front bumper has rounded fog lamps with small air vents on their outer corners and a sleek looking air dam below the grille with trapezoidal chrome garnishes on its side edges.

The side profile of the Mini Clubman looks fairly simple with a wraparound design for the chrome finish which starts from the bottom of the front windscreen and flows to the rear windscreen through the side window shoulder line. All the pillars are blacked out along with the door-mounted rearview mirrors, roof and door handles, which give a sporty look to the car. The side body cladding, wheel arch moulding and large multi-spoke alloy wheels give it a stance of a crossover.

It is the rear profile of the Mini Clubman which makes it look different from the rest of the Mini offerings. At the back, the Clubman gets split rear doors which open sideways, which is something we rarely see in a car. These door panels get blacked-out door handles on the inner edges and wide LED tail lamps with signature Union Jack LED inserts in them.

The John Cooper Works edition of the Mini Clubman gets a host of sporty looking elements like a red finish for the roof, rearview mirrors, brake callipers and door panel graphics.

Thanks to its long wheelbase, the Mini Clubman offers a proper station wagon feel with ample space for the rear occupants and an impressive 360-litres of boot space. While it retains the fun-to-drive character of the rest of the Mini offerings, it also feels harsh in terms of ride quality.

The Mini Clubman is available with three different engine options, with each variant getting a different engine. The Mini Cooper Clubman gets a 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol engine, which makes 136 PS of power and 220 Nm of torque. The Mini Cooper S Clubman gets a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, which produces 178 PS of power and 280 Nm of torque. The range-topping Mini John Cooper Works Clubman has a performance-oriented 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, which pumps out 306 PS of power and 480 Nm of torque. All the variants get an 8-speed automatic gearbox as standard.

The Mini Clubman is decently loaded with safety equipment like airbags all around, ABS with EBD and brake assist, dynamic stability control, front and rear parking sensors and cornering brake control. There are a few other safety features like a rear parking camera, tyre pressure monitoring system and radar-based assistance features, all of which are offered as paid extras.

The Mini Clubman is one of the most practical and family-oriented offerings from Mini, which offers loads of space without compromising on the original character of the Mini of being a fun-to-drive and funky-looking car.
