2022 BMW 3 Series is here; gets new interior, fresh colours

A global facelift has been unveiled for the 3 Series (G20) by German luxury automaker BMW. As part of this mid-life update, the sedan gains a redesigned fascia, a new infotainment system, four new colours, and mildly updated powertrains.

The 3 Series is now available in four metallic paint colours: Skyscraper Grey, Brooklyn Grey, Frozen Pure Grey, and Tanzanite Blue.There are slimmer headlamps and 'inverted L-shaped' daytime running lights on the 3 Series facelift. The setup reminds us of the all-electric i3 sold in China. Furthermore, the front and rear bumpers of the sedan have been reshaped, while the M Sport trim adds sportier bumpers. The standard versions of the 3 Series come with 17-inch alloy wheels, whereas the M Sport versions come with 18-inch alloy wheels.
The 3 Series is now available in four metallic paint colours: Skyscraper Grey, Brooklyn Grey, Frozen Pure Grey, and Tanzanite Blue. The brand has also introduced an optional M Sport package Pro to go along with its M Sport package.
The BMW Curved Display also comes with the midlife facelift of the 3 Series. It features a 12.3-inch driver screen and a 14.9-inch infotainment screen based on the eighth-generation iDrive interface. There are new air conditioning vents in the cabin, as well as a new drive selector lever. Also standard is three-zone climate control.
Among the powertrains, BMW has tweaked one petrol engine for improved responsiveness. The company has also expanded the 48V mild electric assist system to its six-cylinder and diesel engine lineups. The Steptronic Sport transmission is now optional for the 3 Series. The eight-speed automatic transmission is standard across the range. Additionally, BMW offers its top-of-the-line models with the xDrive all-wheel-drive system for no extra charge.
Except for the M Performance models, all models come in Sport and M Sport variants, with an optional Pro package that adds additional equipment and replaces a lot of the exterior chrome brightwork with black. The M Performance models now come with an optional carbon fibre roof. The all-new 3 Series will continue to lock horns with the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Audi A4, Jaguar XE, and the Volvo S60.
