In terms of appearance, the i7 can be differentiated from the regular ICE models by the blue accents it features on the outside. On the inside, the ICE and the EV models are pretty much the same, barring a different gear selector text on the centre console on the i7.“BMW is leading the luxury segment into a new era that will be shaped by innovations in the fields of sustainability and digitalisation. With the new BMW 7 Series, the world’s most successful manufacturer of premium vehicles is creating forward-looking ways to enjoy driving pleasure, unsurpassed long-distance comfort and a top-end digital experience. Central to this reinterpretation is the BMW i7,” said BMW in a press release.
At the launch of the all-new 7 Series, BMW will roll out two internal combustion engine (ICE) models and an all-electric trim. Speaking of the gas-powered models, the line-up includes, 740i and the 760i xDrive trims. The 740i will feature an upgraded version of BMW's turbocharged 3.0-litre inline-six engine, which now also gets a 48-volt mild-hybrid assist. The 760i xDrive model, on the other hand, gets a twin-turbocharged 4.4-litre V8 engine with the same mild-hybrid assist. The two models flaunt a maximum power output of 375hp and 536hp, respectively.
As for the i7 xDrive60, the first-ever all-electric 7 Series gets two electric motors and a single battery pack with 101.7kWh of power. The maximum power output is rated at 536hp, while the single-charge range is 625km as per the WLTP standard. The German EV benefits from a Combine Charging Unit (CCU) that supports AC charging at a rate of up to 11 kW via a Type 2 connection. A full charge takes about 9.5 hours. Much faster DC charging is also supported and can juice up the battery from 10-80% in just 34 minutes.
In terms of appearance, the i7 can be differentiated from the regular ICE models by the blue accents it features on the outside. The BMW badges have also been given a touch of the same blue. On the inside, the ICE and the EV models are pretty much the same, barring a different gear selector text on the centre console on the i7.
