All-new Ford Ranger Raptor finally revealed
After months of waiting, Ford has finally answered our prayers and revealed the new Ranger Raptor. And from what we can see, the second-generation vehicle has a lot to offer its audience. So let’s check out what new upgrades we will get to see!
KEY TAKEAWAYS
What powers the new Ford Ranger Raptor?
The new Ford Ranger Raptor is powered by a 3.0-litre EcoBoost V6 petrol engine generating 397 PS and 583 Nm of peak torque.Coming to the design aspect, the new Raptor is bigger and bolder than ever. We get a new bold grille, wide 17-inch wheels along huge wheel arches to accommodate them. In addition, New Zealand and Australia will receive Beadlock wheels while all models will have common BF Goodrich KO2 all-terrain tyres.
The Ranger Raptor will also be accompanied by new Raptor-branded cast aluminum side steps, LED tail lights, C-clamped DRLs, and LED headlights complete with dynamic bending lights. What’s more, the vehicle will also receive a high-strength steel bash plate to protect its engine sump, front cross member, steering system, and radiator.
The Raptor will receive some new and interesting additions to the interior. We can see a new electronic shifter, Bang & Olufsen sound system, a massive 12-inch touchscreen display with 4A SYNC connectivity, and 12.4-inch digital instrumentation (with a customization option).
Now let’s move on to the most interesting aspect: the powertrain. The Ranger Raptor has been made, keeping in that the pick-up truck will be both an on and off-road vehicle. So it will receive a twin-turbo 3.0L V6 EcoBoost petrol engine that will have an impressive power output of 397 PS along with 583 Nm of peak torque. Ford might also hold on to the previous Biturbo 2.0L diesel engine for certain markets. However, we still do not know about the power output since it might receive some tweaks.
The Raptor will also receive a 10-speed automatic transmission with different boost profiles for every mode. Some off-road modes include Baja off-road Race mode, Mud and Ruts, Sand, and Rock Crawl. Additionally, there will be some on-road modes, including Slippery, Slope, and Normal. The vehicle will also receive a special four-wheel-drive system with a two-speed electronically controlled transfer case for enhanced performance.
We hope to see the powerful Ranger Raptor by the end of this year and cannot wait to know more about it. But, till then, stay tuned!
