Volkswagen teases a more powerful Golf R, debut set for November 4
Volkswagen has recently released a video that features the most powerful hatch of its lineup. The brand is all set to introduce the world to its all-new Golf R that will be premiered on November 4.
Previously, the prototype of the Golf R was seen testing at Nurburging and the automaker also released some teaser photos of the car. The teaser photo showcases the new "R" logo. Keen eyes might also find the hint of a rear spoiler in some of the previously released images, too.
However, presently, the automaker has cleared the air of suspense and released the first official teaser of the hatch. A tribute to the original Golf R32 that was released in 2002, the Golf R takes the legacy of Golfs to its 8th generation.
Talking about the exteriors, the next-gen Golf R is way more aggressive than the standard Golf. The vehicle is an equal combination of sport and comfort. Interestingly, the design is unique and is comparatively new when compared to the likes of GTI of the previous generation.
The design of the new Golf R picks up a more aggressive stance with a more premium aerodynamic approach where the LED DRLs make a seamless fit into the bonnet of the vehicle via a slim line that runs across. The Golf R also has simple slats that are divided into two solid sections, giving way to the bumper air inlets.
Coming to the powertrain of the Golf R, it is powered by the most fine-tuned EA 888 2.0L turbocharged engine. Adapting to new technologies with water-cooled exhaust gas routing and turbocharger with dual camshaft adjustment, the difference in power output between the two generations is going to be vast.
While there’s no official word on the maximum power output of the EA 888 2.0L, as per the rumours around the car, it is said to give out 319 PS of power.
