Volvo XC40 Recharge undergoes the most subtle facelift ever

With the images circulated, it won't be wrong to say Volvo believes they went with an appropriate approach, right from the beginning with the XC40 Recharge, as the facelift hardly appears to receive a revision. However, it's the keen eyes that will be able to note the changes made. 

Having made a global debut in October 2019, the biggest change in the fully electric crossover you would note is the new headlights. Though it doesn't stick out at the very first glance, it does when you take a closer look. Besides these, it even borrows the updated front bumper from the C40, smoother grille, and mildly revised lower sills and tail lamp clusters. The updates even include three alloy wheel designs.

The interior revisions for the facelift Volvo XC40 Recharge are also subtle, with a carried over 12.3-inch digital instrumentation and vertically-oriented infotainment screen with Android Automotive OS serving. 

The gear lever and steering wheel also get a slight change with the use of different leather trim. At the same time, the German website of the company even facilitates an option to the customer to choose one of the following premium textile, tailored wool, 'Connect' textile and microtech or synthetic leather, and microtech and textile trim. However, all the provided options are available only in black, apart from the tailored wool that comes in light grey.

As per the data available on the German website, it is clear that the 2022 XC40 Recharge will offer single-motor FWD and dual-motor AWD powertrain configurations. The FWD offers 231 hp and 330 Nm of torque, enabling a 0-100 kmph time of 7.4 seconds and a top speed of 160 kmph.

The model previously available, the dual-motor AWD version, packs 408 hp and 660 Nm of torque, propelling it from 0-100 kmph in 4.9 seconds and a top speed of 180 kmph. On the WLTP coupled testing cycle, the dual-motor AWD powertrain gave 418 km, while the single-motor powertrain offered a range of 424 km.
