Audi e-tron

The interior design of the e-tron is classic Audi. So, its quite minimalist, nicely laid out, and it is futuristic in its own sense. No prizes for guessing, the material quality and finish is top-class, and there are plenty of paid options to customize the interior. As standard, the e-tron gets three glorious entertainment screens with in-built satellite navigation, internet connectivity, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to connect your smartphone. The electric, heated leather seats, and the dual climate control feature add to the comfortable driving experience. 

The e-tron does not exactly shout out that its an e-SUV with a futuristic design. The looks are like a regular Audi SUV, with minor changes here and there. Right in front, you get Audi’s single-frame ‘Q’ model front grille. The air vents at both sides by smoothening the airflow to the sides of the car. You can upgrade to the Virtual Wing Mirrors and replace the conventional rearview mirrors by paying additional costs. These virtual mirrors project what you’d see with physical mirrors onto 7.5-inch OLEDs that are positioned on the insides of both front doors. You will spot broad 20 inches alloy wheels that go up to 21 inches at the sides. It has color-coded surrounds for the wheel arches, as against black plastic material. At the rear, it features a full, seamless light bar that covers the entire width of the car. There are no exhaust pipes or fake exhaust pipes for that matter. 

The Audi e-tron is suitable for driving on various types of terrain using the standard dynamic handling system. The driver can choose between seven profiles depending on the driving situation, road conditions, or personal requirements. The standard progressive steering adjusts and becomes more direct with increasing steering angle, which provides handling advantages when maneuvering and in tight curves. Besides the drive system characteristic and steering boost, Audi drive select also influences the standard adaptive air suspension with controlled dampers. As a result, there is a vast difference between smooth-rolling comfort and sporty, stable handling. The air suspension with damper control is integrated into the electronic chassis platform and Audi drive select management.

Powering the e-tron are two electric motors – one at the front and one at the rear. The front motor generates 355 hp power and 561 Nm boost, while the rear motor generates 402 hp power and 664 Nm boost. Together they produce 300kW of power, propelling this full-sized SUV from 0 to 100 kmph in less than 6 seconds. On long trips, fast-charging stations charging with direct current (DC) at up to 150 kW, can fully charge the e-tron in close to 30 minutes, which provides a range of almost 400 km. In the Audi e-tron, the company introduces a new Quattro generation as standard: electric all-wheel drive. It continuously and fully regulates the ideal distribution of drive torques between the two axles. 

Audi is the first manufacturer worldwide to use the electro-hydraulically integrated brake control system technology in a production vehicle with electric drive. At the front, the internally ventilated discs have a diameter of 375 mm and are 350 mm at the rear. The transition between electric and hydraulic braking is smooth and homogeneous. Standard safety features include front and side airbags, anti-lock brakes, stability control, and conventional security system.

With its combination of electric drive and a comfortable, sophisticated interior, the Audi e-tron creates a new sense of mobility. Whether in the city or on long journeys, the Audi e-tron makes life easier for its driver in many situations. These are still early days for electric vehicles in Singapore, and there are cheaper Chinese and Korean EV alternatives available in the country. But, there’s an implicit element of prestige and class associated with owning an EV from the German automaker.
