Nissan GT-R Review 2024
Abhishek Katariya says
The Nissan GT-R is called a supercar slayer for a reason – the Japanese stalwart has been a major reason for the sleepless nights of exotic supercars for the performance it offers at almost half of their price. The best ever sports car from Japan, the Nissan GT-R, is being offered in Singapore in a single variant, with the color options of Katsura Orange, Vibrant Red, Pearl Blue, Dark Metal Grey, Pearl Black and Brilliant White.
Nissan GT-R Interior & Features
The Nissan GT-R might be successfully hiding its age from the outside, but it is when you step on the inside, and you feel that this car definitely needs a substantial revamp. The cabin has begun to show its age, thanks to the old school layout and dated looking controls.
The three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel, as well as all analog instrument console behind it, makes the driver’s cockpit of the Nissan GT-R look very old school. The center console, which is slightly tilted towards the driver’s side, gets a rectangular touchscreen infotainment system, the outer casing of which mimics the design of that of the front grille on the outside.
Apart from the usual displays for the audio and navigation systems, it also shows various kinds of performance-oriented gauges and their readings. The switches for the climate control as well as AC vents on the center console look pretty dated too, however, the carbon-fibre surrounds for the transmission tunnel liven up the cabin a bit. The Recaro racing seats are wrapped in premium black leather upholstery, which gets contrasting red stitching job for that enhanced sporty ambience in the cabin.
GT-R Exterior
In this current form, the Nissan GT-R has been in the existence for almost thirteen years now, but even today, it looks like as if it has got all the right ingredients to make it one of the sharpest and best-looking sports cars. The overall has a timeless design to it, which still makes it look pretty relevant.
At the front, the Nissan GT-R boasts of an aggressive fascia, with a large hexagonal grille, which has got tapered small upper edges and vertical side edges, thus making it look wide. The upper portion of the grille wears the Nissan’s familiar V-motion theme, with the extended satin chrome V-part. The lines which flow on the front bonnet are not too curved, but they do give a sense of flow and continuity. The angular headlamps are relatively small, and dome come with boomerang-shaped daytime running LEDs and LED projectors.
The side profile of the Nissan GT-R wears that unmistakable silhouette which has remained unchanged ever since its inception, with the sharply tapering down roofline and muscular and tapered looking haunches for the fenders for both front and rear wheels. The side skirts are in the continuity with the lip spoiler, which in combination with the sleek two-door design, door-mounted rearview mirrors and large machined alloy wheels, give the GT-R a very sporty demeanour.
The rear profile of the Nissan GT-R gets the same quad round LED tail lamp setup (two on either side) which made the first-ever Nissan Skyline a legendary looking car. The massive boot-mounted spoiler, as well as wide and clean boot design, gives the Nissan GT-R look very wide and massive from the back.
Nissan GT-R Ride & Handling
The Nissan GT-R is known as one of the finest handling sports cars ever made, with the suspension combination of Bilstein DampTronic Shock Absorbers, Independent Double-Wishbone Suspension at the front and Bilstein DampTronic Shock Absorbers, Multi-Link Suspension. The stiff setup for the suspension as well as fantastic all-wheel-drive system of the Nissan GT-R makes it a true driver’s delight.
GT-R Engine & Fuel Consumption
This is the best part of the mighty Nissan GT-R – a 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V6 petrol engine mated to a super-slick 6-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. This powertrain combination, even today, feels one of the best ones out there in the business, with the maximum power output capped at 570 PS and a peak torque output rating of 632 Nm.
Nissan GT-R Braking & Safety
This is one parameter where the Nissan GT-R again exposes its old school roots, with the supercar getting a very few names in this list, including front, side and curtain airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, vehicle dynamic control and traction control.
GT-R Verdict
The Nissan GT-R might be lagging behind its peers in terms of the technology and features on board as well as overall cabin experience. However, the moment you push the accelerator pedal to the floor, you will feel that why the Nissan GT-R is still hailed as the finest supercars even in this current era.
