BMW M3 Competition

While the cabin layout of the BMW M3 Competition is very similar to that of the regular 3-Series, there are several changes here and there, which make it more special over the latter. The cabin can be specced with one of the numerous upholstery combinations to choose from.

The elements, which are exclusive in the BMW M3 Competition, are M leather steering wheel, M Sport seats, M specific 12.3-inch full-TFT instrument console, M Setup in BMW live cockpit professional in the 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, M specific accelerator, and brake pedals, M mode button to toggle between the settings and red-coloured start-stop button.

Apart from these specific bits, the layout of the dashboard of the BMW M3 Competition is very similar to that of the 3-Series, with hexagonal design influence in the centre console, sleek arrangement for buttons of climate control, audio system, and controls in the centre tunnel.

Compared to the regular versions of the BMW 3-Series, the new BMW M3 Competition looks very different, especially from the front. As it has been the norm, there are plenty of design cues and inserts, which make the BMW M3 Competition a lot sportier and planted over the regular 3-Series.

The bigger visual differentiator between the BMW M3 Competition and the regular 3-Series is the new front fascia, with the former getting the new-generation large and vertically-laid double-kidney grille with horizontal slats. The sleek eyebrow-shaped laser LED headlamps with dual C-shaped daytime running LEDs are shared with the regular 3-Series. Though, the BMW M3 Competition gets a different and sportier front bumper with aggressively designed air dampers besides the lower edges of the grille.

The side profile of the BMW M3 Competition looks very much similar to that of the 3-Series sedan, though there are some prominent differences, such as different designs for the 19-inch front and 20-inch M alloy wheels, angularly placed M gills on the front fenders, contrast-finished M compound brakes, and swankier M rearview mirrors.

At the rear, the BMW M3 Competition retains the LED tail lamps with sleeker L-shaped inserts and the boot lid design from the regular 3-Series sedan. However, the similarities end there, as the rear bumper is different here, which gets a sportier rear diffuser and quad exhaust pot arrangement. The BMW M3 Competition also gets a slim spoiler mounted on the top of the boot lid and a shark fin antenna on the roof.

The BMW M3 has been known for its impeccable driving manners, and the new BMW M3 Competition is no different from the norm. The car is one of the finest examples of the philosophy of sheer driving pleasure, for which BMW is known worldwide. The car is loaded with tech like M Sport differential, adaptive M suspension, M Sport brakes, and variable sport steering with Servotronic, all of which make the BMW M3 Competition a charm to drive.

It is where things start getting exciting even more. The BMW M3 Competition is powered by a 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged inline-six petrol engine, which is the most powerful engine an M3 has ever received. Coupled with an 8-speed Steptronic transmission, the inline-six produces 510 PS of maximum power output and 650 Nm of peak torque output. Traditionally, the power produced is channeled to the rear wheels via a rear-wheel-drive system.

Needless to say, one can have all the modern active and passive safety systems in the BMW M3 Competition, such as a wide range of autonomous driving assistance systems, eight airbags, hill hold assist, hill descent control, front and rear parking sensors, and a 360-degree camera.

With this new sixth-generation G80 version, the BMW M3 Competition has just raised the benchmarks set by itself, in the way it offers performance and practicality in one car. There are very few four-door cars in the world that come close to the thrills offered by BMW M3 Competition, and that’s what makes it more special and usable as an everyday car too.
